  1. You didn't state replacing a battery? also try pulling all the avionics circuit breakers out. I'd try pulling all of them and see if it stops. if it does, start pulling individual ones.
  2. wings are par36. cowling is par46
  3. I think the majority of mooneys hit the yellow arc in a normal 500 to 700 ft descent. I can't get bellow the 180KIAS in decent, even with speed brake. I'm also usually pulled back to about 16 to 18 inches in decent.
  4. I believe the top props from hartzell are the fastest blades available. You have the option between 2 and 3 blades. Ive always been a fan of 3 blades. Yeah you lose a couple knots in cruise, but its made up in climb. Also includes a better takeoff performance and shorter landing distance. You do lose a couple pounds however of useful load.
  5. You have any pictures?
  6. what does a job like that set someone back? did you gain or lose any useful load?
  7. Good thing you went back. Last i checked losing a blade mid air is nearly always fatal
  8. Let me rephrase my question. If i have a g500 Txi or dual G5's, can I have VNAV in cruise flight. Not asking about an approach.
  9. Does the 3100 have the same vnav capabilities that the gfc500?
  10. So if the GFC500 is the path that's taken whats the cost of the GFC500 plus the yaw damper? Do I need to replace the electric trim, or can the one i currently have be used?
  11. So what you probably can do is get a g5 to replace the HSI and the turn coordinator. Then switch the places of the turn coordinator and the AI so you have the colum of G5's and the the old AI to run the century.
  12. If you want trim on the GFC500 do you need to use the Garmin trip or can I keep the Electric trim I have from the Stec? I have an STEC30 right now. Really simple and does the trick for my IFR Training, but more capabilities would be nice. How does the 3100 compare to the GFC500?
  13. My mistake. I not familiar with how the Century works.
  14. You have a Garmin box so i'd say throw in 2 garmin G5's. That'll give you an AI with 4 hours of battery, and an HSI and backup AI with 4 hours of battery
  15. Strap a gopro under the underside of the wing facing the nose. Try opening and closing them at different speeds. Maybe go up to 4 or 5k and try slowflight at 70 to 80knots and see if they open.
  16. If you need to Buy the STC still, I recommend buying from @AGL Aviation. Mooney doesn't sell the STC anymore, and they let shops sell it for them so shops mark up the price as much as they want. A quite popular shop in northern Cali quoted me 7300 without tax for then STC and another shop charged me 6300. AGL was the only shop I found quoting it at its retail price of 4995. And if you live outside of NC, theres no sales tax. +1 to AGL also when adjusting the Fuel flow, tell them to set it at the max of 27.3GPH. dont waste your or their time slowly adding fuel. Most likely you'll need more than 27.3 GPH, but its a good starting point. The top props on the ovations really shine at between 10 and 12k. At least mine does. At 8k they can probably fly faster but you really need to burn gas. like 18GPH to see around 187 to 190. At 11 to 12k, I can fly WOT at around 15GPH doing 183 to 184. The prop was meant to shine at around 15k but that altitude The ovation doesn't have the power the Acclaim does. The 2700RPM on takeoff is nice, but its quite noisy. The takeoff performance is insane however. At full gross I get off the ground in about 1000ft. I climb cruise and descend at 2450RPM, as that frequency resonates with the A20 headset I have and it becomes really quiet.
  17. If you were Military and fine with using masks, I'd say get the 252. If you don't like The higher teens, I'd stick with a 201. Climb rate with a 201 is pretty decent up to about 8K feet, and after there slowly fades. We went with an 310HP Ovation and I still see around 7 to 800ft per minute at 11k Feet. More gas, but a little bit faster. I usually see 185 knots WOT at 10k burning around 15ish. Both the J and K are great models. I'd look at the 1990 model K 252's cause those are legible for the Encore Upgrade. The newer J's are really nice too.
  18. I think he was recommending palm springs, but recommending it with some comedy. Anyhow, Palm springs is nice. So is San diego, Orange county. Albuquerque, Camarillio, oceano, pismo beach, Paso Robles. All good options. If you like the city life: SD, LA, OC, and Albuquerque, and San Louis Obispo The Beach: Oceano, Pismo beach, LA, SD, SLO Wine: Pismo Beach, Paso Robles. Heat: All
  19. Try to find a rayjay kit for your M20C. might be expensive, but wont be anywhere near the price of a Bo or commanche.
  20. Anyone have a data card theyd be willing to get rid of and gain a couple bucks. Honeywell sells them, and they're just under 500 bucks. was hoping someone would have one here for a bit cheaper since a card from the 90's shouldn't set me back half a grand.
  21. i believe Los Alamitos also does PAR approaches, inbetween Johnwayne and Long Beach.
  22. My bad. I read it as "why was it painted only 3 years ago".
  23. It was painted in 93?
  24. Im still trying to figure out why the acclaim is cheaper to own than the bravo. The only difference i can think about is cowl flaps. Both have insanely expensive engines. One burns about 2 to 3 gallons more per hour. The other statistically has a higher chance of making tbo. Just curious why the acclaim is cheaper than the bravo.
