  1. well if you follow the general instructions of leaning to rough then a turn or two, you are probably lean of peak
  2. I"m happy g100ul is available but terrified they will remain the only option if the other fuels fail to gain certification, with an almost mandated, unassailable monopoly, i'd expect private equity firms to buy gami and completely shaft us.
  3. pfft no one dead, bird not badly beat up, could be worse.
  4. I tend to expense what it'd cost for an airline ticket, seems fair.
  5. I have 2xg5's, handheld radio and multiple gizmos. adding a second battery but that is mainly for the second surefly
  6. have to admit, i only change the oil every 40 to 50 hours 8) I do worry about putting less than 10 hours a month on her, it's like every weekend but still its not all that much. barely made 100hours last year
  7. This is the way, I haven't let my logbooks out of my control in 5 years. Actually have a sticky application protocol, i carefully wash my hands, cut open the vacuum bags holding the logs, apply stickies to proper page, put logs in new vacuum back and reseal, pat logbooks then put them back in their logbook cubby I actually keep get 2 copies of the stickies, i apply one as above and the other in the airplane log in the plane.
  8. just a thought, could you just not use 100% power instead of changing timings ?
  9. yeah, i don't truss your description, send a pic
  10. I did the same, you have to order the audio harness premade or get it from an authorized dealer to get the warranty
  11. airnav fuel routing is great, can really save you some money. try to pick fields of good size and capability, nice to be able to get a crew car, take a nap, maintenance, etc... try to pick a time when the winds are favorable, west to east you have a good shot but your return will be SLOW. make sure you have some supplies, extra oil, tools, snacks, drinks etc... pick a day where you can avoid crossing fronts and you should be good. oh yeah, pit stop somewhere and try to get to florida early am, otherwise you'll have to dodge buildups/thunderstorms. stop in wichita, touch and go the shuttle landing strip, fly past the cape, all kinda cool stuff on the way
  12. honestly, you wouldn't believe how sensitive those things are, mine in the tail can detect a person walking by the plane within about 3 feet. while all testing was well within range, it was very noticeable when i tested standing near the tail and when i was out by the wing
  13. Brittain magnetometer
  14. mine is just a stiff piece of aluminum in the tail, not much to fabricate. your IA/AP could make short work of it
  15. I assist when possible, Find a friendly AP/IA, wiring/connecting avionics is pretty simple. i defer fabricating to the professionals, i'm terrified of drilling/cutting/bending ANYTHING in birdy.
  16. what cruise and how long was it, really want to do this
  17. hat rack : gatz jar, pitot cover, random towels, trip log, tire pressure gauge, spare shirt( just in case ) hangar : couple pair of headsets baggage : tool box, with 3 quarts oil, screw drivers, speed tape, wrench, vice grips, etc...., tow bar, chocks, tie down straps, rope, blankets
  18. I was able to close the door on my E, think i was in a climb and slipped into the wind. If it hadn't closed i would've just ignored it till i landed somewhere, plane didn't fly any different. heck it didn't even provide a cooling breeze
  19. Vitol is just an energy trader, i can guarantee they want nothing to do with long term support/liability for your dinky airplane and most likely didn't think one bit about it. actually know them, could just call and ask. seeing what happened at und and even having a sense of airplane legal stuff, i bet if they had exposure, they'd probably BURN all million gallons rather than sell it
  20. is it me or does the E get faster in every article. started at 184 mph , last page had it at 190mph
  21. I notice i feel, "off", after flying for extended periods at > 8k ish. watching the pulse ox, i never go below 90/92 ish and it really only takes a few deep breaths to bring it back up. started taking a puff or two of ox every now and again, just to avoid that bleh feeling
  22. my 1974 manual states 52 gallons "useable"
  23. it's in the avidyne install manual
  24. I actually went g5's instead of the 275's just so i would have everything for the g3x
