  1. I would do this in a heartbeat if it say 40ish k but 100k+ just doesn't make any sense
  2. 1974 E here, i'm wondering if i'd have the same issue, please share anything you have
  3. hmmm, 24lbs, is a lot, might actually be able to take luggage for myself when the wife and i fly.
  4. My mooney manual actualy says minimum octane 91/96
  5. 1974 E here, almost stock, has lasar closure and a gap seal or two. when really crusing say 23/23 she'll do approx 147 to 150kts @7000ft + I tend to fly LOP so let's just say 135 to 140ish. empty weight < 1670 lbs with max being 2575 so 900+ UL. I think the E is a perfect plane, really solid and flies really well. if you aren't really tall say approx 6ft, you can get 4 people in the plane any taller and someone may lose parts of their legs. Birdy hasn't been horrible for maintenance. Honestly i have to say she's actually been pretty good, only one real grounding fix in the last 5 years. it is absolutely 100% true, it's far cheaper to buy an equipped plane then to upgrade most cost have been due to me upgrading avionics and adding electronic ignition. ( eclipsed the purchase prace a year ago ) I"m actually pretty lucky, my brittain autopilot actually works even tracks green and magenta lines. things i wish i had: #1 64 Gallons of fuel - really wish i had more fuel. planning on adding extended range tanks next year so that'll fix that. #2 Turbo -- I just want it. oh yeah, my birdy has a really forward cg, she'll go 5kts faster if i put something heavy in the back
  6. that's actually true, in my head i'm really thinking 1 hr + 2nd tank which worse case is about 3.25 hours so approx 500 miles no wind. it's actually further but i plan my fuel stop at a range of something around 3hours. flying a lot of LOP lately, that second tank at altitude and leaned out can go for 3 hours by itself.
  7. i tend to run one of the tanks dry on all my xcntry's over 450 miles per the POH. 1 hour on start tankm switch, run second tank dry, switch back and land. actually it's closer to 500+ miles before the second tank goes dry but i plan for 450. usually land with 16+ gallons in tank 1
  8. the 1974 e's have throttle quadrants
  9. Seriously, take your apple device to a samsung store and load up the trial version of gp on the samsung galaxy tab s9+, it's not subtle
  10. hmm, i don't have that problem
  11. by multiple devices, i also mean watches, adsb receivers and such. all my stuff just works. no poking fiddling blah blah it just works. as for differences in features, As an ex ff user, i don't see or use anything that matters. Little background, i originally bought into gp due to not wanting to buy apple devices not because i owned garmin products. at first, there were really notable features missing, but now, i couldn't tell you one without putting them side by side. note, this is for the apple version of the products, android GP lags a bit. oh there is one thing, gp on android looks 100x better than gp or foreflight on apple, just sayin
  12. I'm really a fan of Garmin Pilot but honestly they are about 99% the same, Garmin may have a slight(really slight) lead if you have multiple devices.
  13. start and first hour is on 1 tank then switch, if i have issues, switch back
  14. Heat Gun, not torch.
  15. aluminum + torch, just sayin. aluminum has a habit of returning to it's shape
  16. Brian @ BAT aviation, behind texas flight. Just dropped my girl off today for her annual Brian Isabel, bk aviation @ KAXH, seriously this guy can sort just about anything.
  17. I leave it connected when it's in the hangar. sop, i pull the plane out the hangar and remove the tow bar in one action. always verify putting the tow bar in it's place on the tool box before closing the baggage door Also before start, i look over my shoulder and verify it's in it's place. plane is never to be started in or pointed at the hangar
  18. > 1000 nm and teens to low twenties is what excites me, i'm probably thinking a 231 eventually. currently i fly > 8k just to avoid other traffic, so nice to be able to just sit back and relax
  19. i see a k in my future, sigh
  20. I don't understand why everything has to be either or, why isn't it both? Airplanes are extremely difficult to see, when adsb shows you 10 airplanes within 5 miles and you only see 1 if that, i'd think you'd appreciate having extra help.
  21. I also may not see your mooney coming straight at me from a mile two away
  22. what is the white streak ?
  23. one day flying past memphis adsb alerted me to a phenom jet approaching from below and behind, 2 mins later i diverted left and watched it go past me off my right wing. maybe missed me by a few hundred feet. If you have tools use them otherwise your're the idiot
  24. Sorry you are having such a bad go of it, i know it's beyond frustrating. I believe you're around texas, so if you need a new shop try B&K aviation at kaxh, Brian and Marshall can sort damn near anything on a mooney.
