  1. so actually held the thing today, it was way smaller than the pictures led me to believe, it's like half the size of a coffee mug. tiny. and talk about bright, my eyes still hurt
  2. Unfortunately, it only took smashing the old one
  3. I have one in each of the inlet ducts, they seem to be pretty accurate., match the thermometer in the windshield
  4. on a normal runway just hold her off, patience is key, she'll land perfectly fine, the problem happens when we get anxious and start trying to force the issue. so using this technique, my girl normally lands and is off the runway without using brakes in like 1500ish. treat her like it's a Diamond da40 and Not a Cessna 172 and you'll be fine
  5. really does sound like you guys make this more complicated than it needs to be, 70/80 ish until runway is made then just hold it off, landing will be short and sweet. higher than about 80ish you're gonna eat a lot of runway but still just hold it off. note if the plane really doesn't want to land, CHECK YOUR GEAR
  6. Just my luck, while flying IFR from memphis to houston, the main selection knob/button in my GNS disassembled itself and fell out of the radio while in a solid cloud layer. it also seems to have caused the radio to reset as the comm was on a incorrect channel any way, at some point the comm channel changed, i couldn't hear atc. pink line kept working after 20 mins of silence i finally try to call atc, nothing, look down wrong frequency and no knob to change it back. no response on second radio. finally looked up center frequency for some airport i was flying over, get atc and IMMEDIATELY get a "call this number" sigh, cry, cry, cry. ended up landing in shreveport to wait for vfr weather
  7. find a good cfi to do your transition training, you'll get the 10 hours. complex endorsement is like 1 flight, no biggie
  8. I'd just have the paint shop annual the plane, if qualified, it's going to be down weeks for paint might as well kill 2 birds 1 stone.
  9. Wow, just looked on controller, there are a LOT of mooneys for sale
  10. what i was thinking, if the wing is damage to the point where you need to remove this, it's probably scrap. the example above was to replace the spars, i'm sure that's in replacement wing territory
  11. why would you bother to put this on ebay?
  12. hmmm, looks really good to me, know what i want for my next reseal
  13. wild turkey or old grandad burn better
  14. yeah, just buy a good noise cancelling headset, even with good insulation and thicker windows, it's still not quiet. running at something like 2000 rpm /20in is talkable however. also the c/e aren't overly small in the back, Once the front seats are pulled into flying position, more room than economy plus. the seats fully back and theres only like 4 inches between the backseat and the front also sound deadening material as in a car, is HEAVY, something to be avoided in a plane
  15. They Pick you up at the entrance to the Hyatt Regency and drop you off at a Hyatt or Hilton, no security, no lines Personally, my favorite mode of travel is trains, all the room you could need, beds, people bringing you food and drinks. I travel almost exclusively by train when i go to europe, wish we had more here
  16. Houston - Dallas is that perfect range 4ish hours where commercial flying/driving/busses etc.. all take the same time, it's all about which mode of travel you can stomach
  17. actually, i do, he's in our flight club, pm your number/question i'll pass it along.
  18. Vonlane is a bus service between texas cities, i think houston-dallas-sat-austin, really nice Vonlane - www.vonlane.com
  19. It's way cheaper to fly myself and the wife to dallas than the Vonlane bus. Woot, finally got a win. 17g @ $5.50 < 135$ one way bus ticket
  20. anyone know where i can get a new instrument panel cover made? I initially intended to plastic weld the broken piece, but the piece that broke off is now missing.
  21. it was a new boot, not from EBAY man wish I hadn't lost the contact
  22. this was caused by a leak in one of my servos, bike patch and some electrical tape took care of it for a bit. then had to beg and plead to find a replacement. really wish i could remember who sent me the servo boot, i could really use more
  23. No, it's due exceptionally bad service at one of their dealerships. we took the car back to that dealership 4 or 5 times because the dealership didn't put the bolts back in the car. I mean all the bolts under the car, trim and bumper. it fell apart drivign down the highway, to which the dealership tried to say WE must've ran into something. I took the car to the corner mechanic who took pictures of all the bolts missing and the dealership still didnt' put the car back together hell even called stellantis, who said they'd do something and guess what nothing. so i ended up paying the roadside mechanic thousands to fix my car and say the hell with chrysler
