  1. I got my F back yesterday and my landing gear problem is now well sorted. Form that standpoint I feel I can fly it with confidence that I won’t have to fly it gear down. When I flew home I had 4” vacuum unless I pressed the PC button, then it went to 4.2. It has a new vac pump so I think I just need to adjust the regulator to get it back in the 5” area, but the leveler was allowing right bank. It seems clear that there is a leak in a hose or actuator. I am thinking that since they worked on the ASS near the turn coordinator they may have bumped a hose loose. in looking at the manual, I think I can find the actuators in the wings but are there also rudder actuators and where are they? The
  2. Good grief! It is less than a month to a hard deadline that is probably driving sales. Why in the world would they significantly drop their prices before then? Next Christmas? Yeah, you can probably expect it.
  3. I have been so deep in my own world for a while that I wasn’t even aware that Don and Jans house had burned. I am so thankful that they and their pups got away unharmed.
  4. You guys need to keep your E6B’s close at hand. You might consider putting one of those new fangled COM radios in your plane too. They’re really great.:)
  5. Well here we are less than a month from the mandatory date and surprisingly the ADS-B chatter seems to be subsiding on the forums. Is everyone ready? My Moony has a 345 and 430W and my Cessna has an Appareo and Stratus with IN on Foreflight.
  6. The prop governor is adjustable and should be set for 2700 maximum.
  7. Maxwell replaced the diaphragm in mine. It was part of the purchase agreement we had to work out the kinks since he had just finished redoing the plane so I don’t know how much it cost.
  8. I can’t remember, but I will look it up for you. I want to say about$400, but the price varies depending upon what is wrong. Mine had two gyro’s or gyro bearings or something that had to be replaced so it was rather expensive.
  9. I have an electric LCD clock like that in my Cessna. It runs all the time, master on or not and has no significant current draw. Keeps absolutely perfect time too. My suggestion is to wire it into the battery properly and enjoy having correct time all the time. That said, if you fly with iXXX gadgets, do you need it anyway? Do you use the sweep second hand for your IFR timer?
  10. About six months ago, the Britain lady recommended a company in Tulsa for overhauling my TC. The company was Pierce and Strait. They were great to work with and did a fabulous job. I now have an operative wing leveler in the Mooney. You probably can google up their contact info, but if you can’t, let me know and I will dig it up for you. Whoops, the previous poster said Porter and a Strait. Maybe that is correct. My memory is not what it used to be.
  11. Yes larryb it is like a car starter relay with a low battery. I am unable to work with it again until Monday at the earliest.
  12. There is no gear swing. The relay chatters but there is no gear movement. There is not enough energy in the relay coil circuit to make contacts engage solid enough to power the actuator.
  13. No, the relay chatters. It’s not getting enough voltage/current to hold it in. There is apparently a weak link in the coil circuit.
  14. Well I got the relay in without having to back up the bolt from above. The relay didn’t fix the problem though. It still chatters.:)
  15. In 1992 I learned to fly in an Aeronca Champ with no radio. Then went to a 150 with a mic hanging on the panel and a speaker. The commonality of headsets came along not long after that.
  16. Need to replace the landing gear UP relay. It appears that the bolt comes down from the top with the nut on the bottom. Will I need to remove carpet in order to hold the bolt while removing and replacing the nut or is it a stud that is held captive? Thanks for sharing your experience with this.
  17. Has I been tied down or hangared?
  18. If you already use Foreflight, it is simple to set up most any plane and it works wonderfully.
  19. Porter Strait was recommended by Britain and did a wonderful job on my wing leveler a few months ago. Good work and a joy to deal with.
  20. “ Accomplished in a phased approach...”. In technical product marketing we would have called a statement like that “ wimp words.”
  21. I wonder how much it cost them? Must not have been too much since they’re still in business.
  22. It’s all about proper antenna orientation.
  23. Altitude of the tops in hundreds of feet.
  24. The AV20 was $400, not the AV 30. I think the AV30 certified was around $1600. alarming though.
