You do know that in a pinch you can try to mix your own - might make sense especially if you need just a couple of gallons at a time.

3-point belts in vintage Mooney under EASA
tmo replied to MV Aviation's topic in European Mooney Pilots
@MV Aviation - see if you can perhaps leverage the EASA validation of FAA Supplemental Type Certificate classified as Basic and limited to one serial number - I seem to recall it didn't cost an absurd amount of money when I looked at it. -
+1 on the MH O2D2, which is high on my "want" list; but if you're paying $100 per O2 fill, and you use O2 a lot, you're doing it wrong. I recall a thread on cascading refill setups, might be of interest.

Touch and Go's not recommended? Why?
tmo replied to EarthboundMisfit's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
Some wise soul here wrote that the key to getting this right was to add power as the plane is reconfigured, not in one big push; I now go to something that gives me a slight climb, but doesn't make me fight the controls, then clean up (gear, trim) and add the rest in. Just last weekend did a go-around for real, when a plane in front of me decided to backtrack instead of exiting at the next taxiway, and while it wasn't exactly from a flare, it went well. -
There are 7 screws in a vertical line on a relatively small cover; see section 53-50-00 of the Parts Catalog - for my M20K it is item #7.

Let me butt in @carusoam's place and say "go mooneyspace!" - what an awesome offer.
-
One question - is the elevator hanging down like that while parked not right? A lot of parked Mooneys look like that, including mine. I'd be more concerned with the one that doesn't "droop" and consider it too sticky. Or am I missing something?

Partly deflating the nose tire and jacking the mains about 1" leveled the plane, yes. Some plywood under the mains would have worked as well.
-
Good question, and I'll have to check; that said, is there any actual difference? As in, why couldn't a battery minder be connected to the hot post on the solenoid, if that somehow makes it legal/compliant?
-
Does putting a fuse inline with the positive wire count for making it not a direct connection? I'm asking, because for example the clock and the dome lights are wired straight to the battery via a 5A inline fuse. Or is that allowed because the factory did it this way?
-
Jacking the plane worked; it lifted the main wheels up about an inch till the plane was level (the two odd screws above avionics bay panel). We chose to jack the mains up because we had the jacks, but putting the mains on some wood /plastic / maybe even cardboard would have worked as well.
-
My K will NOT be level by just letting the air out of the front tire. When lifted by the jack points, the main landing gear wheels are an inch or so above the floor, so it isn't just old pucks.

@PT20J @EricJ - do these kits contain tinnemans and washers, or just screws? If not, any recommendations on sizes of tinnemans I should add to the order? The washers I can handle.

Hank, it's not as easy this side of the pond last time I went to a screw shop I barely got one of a dozen to match. And I had to say they are for an old tractor. That's why I want to order a bunch from the US and have what I need on hand. Good call on the spinner ones, added to the list. Skip, Eric - thanks - I guess I'll follow your advice and start with a kit. With any luck, it will have what I need when I need it. The ask for a machine-readable version of a M20K IPC still stands, if anyone can provide.
-
I know there were a number of threads on screw kits, but I never saw a definite shopping list for a M20K. Does anyone have one? I attempted to write down all the various screws, washers, nuts and whatnots from an IPC I have, but my copy is not searchable, so I gave up pretty fast. Does anyone have a M20K IPC that would be a proper PDF, searchable, with proper text in it, not a bunch of scanned pages? Getting stuff shipped from the US piecemeal is becoming a pain and I'm at a point where I'll be happy to spend the extra $$$ on a bunch of screws I probably won't need just to have the ones I will need in a box near the plane when I need them. I realize that after 40 years some of the screws from the IPC might have changed in size (as in, oversize screws were installed at some point in time) so pointers / suggestions based on experience are also most welcome.

Sobering view of the Pacific Northwest

They probably decided FADEC is the way to go and focused on making that better. And I'm pretty sure most, if not virtually all FADEC engines run very deep LOP. ;-) -
FWIW, I'd rather see more physical buttons on the PMA450C than a big color screen...

Way to put pressure on the new guy, Hank

The POH for my K has a list of all the required placards, in the 2-Limitations section, and also in some of the appendices. Not sure if the older ones also do, but I'd start there.

Bendix King KI-300/Sandia SAI-340 Emergency AD
tmo replied to kortopates's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Unfortunately the AV30 is useless as a KI256 replacement when KFC-series autopilots are involved; fortunately there are other solutions for that (GI275, Aspen, etc),- 23 replies

I like your countdown timer, V1 -
Am I reading it wrong, or does the AML not mention the M20K?! Good timing with the BK/Sandia issue... Too bad the AP interface box is still not ready.

I usually land full flaps. Like the view better. POH says "full flaps" in both "normal" and "max performance", only in x-wind does it say "1/2 flaps". Pretty sure it lets me slow down a bit more than no / half flaps would. If I had a smooth, paved runway perhaps I'd reconsider, but for now, full flaps it is. -
cover between empennage and stinger assembly - screws loose
tmo replied to tmo's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
So, just to make sure I got this right and did not forget anything (getting stuff shipped to me takes time and extra money, so I want to minimize avoidable errors). The updated Mooney solution is A6K75 rivnuts, which are now called NAS1329A06K75 / MS27130-A7K. Those are #6, so might be too small to properly mount in the existing holes, so I'll also get the #8 ones, A8K75 / NAS1329A08K75 / MS27130-A13K. The appropriate drill size for those are #12 and #2, respectively. Also ordering a bunch of matching screws: AN526 632R8 and 832R8. Also other common screws, just to have them on hand. Any good reason for keyed rivnuts that Mooney used as opposed to plain ones? The tool Yetti mentioned is already in the shopping cart - I understand it will do both 6-32 and 8-32 rivnuts; I'm also ordering a set of drill bits (are cobalt / titanium ones worth the extra $$ for casual use?). Anything else from the aviation section of Harbor Freight I might want? They don't seem to have TRIFLOW
