  1. Yes. I would love to hear about it. I've been contemplating building one myself.
  2. Don, Is your dehumidifier similar to the one shown in the video in the link above?
  3. If anyone is interested this webinar is tonight at 7PM CST. Click on the link below to register. https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/128819147522353154
  4. I've been contemplating them covering my panels as they are pretty cracked now. Not sure that I can rehab them and make them look good
  5. It works ok but you have to estimate the distance to the clouds which makes the resulting calculated cloud height even more of an estimate.
  6. I wish there was portable version of one of these. Seems like a good candidate for something like that to avoid the certification of a panel mounted device.
  7. Don Maxwell was talking about picking up the MAPA course. Haven't heard anything official yet though.
  8. I just changed mine 2 days ago and let the oil drain out overnight. This eliminated all drips when removing the filter.
  9. Or if you're from TN a 6th person?
  10. Have you completed 6 approaches, tracking, and a hold in the preceding 6 months? If you haven't you need an IPC to file an instrument flight plan. Otherwise you don't need to have any interaction with a CFI until 2 years from your instrument checkride.
  11. 3 that I know of. Two Js and an F. All hangered and flown regularly.
  12. Oh and see if SB 208 has been complied with. It has to do with corrosion inspection and replacement of old insulation.
  13. There are a few prebuy checklists out there. I think laser has one on their website but a few things come to mind. Check the nose gear truss for dents, condition and age of the gear donuts, fuel leaks as you mentioned, and stability of the tail. I'm sure others will chime in as well with other good suggestions. Might be worthwhile to watch the owner fly it to see if they have been treating the engine well
  14. Was this the one that was landed hard and the fuselage was twisted sideways and all the donuts were blown out? I think that one was an Acclaim.
  15. Before the days of LOP what did mechanics blame burnt exhaust valves and ruined cylinders on?
  16. AAA, Maxwell, and Bob Cabe for me as well. Couldn't be happier.
  17. I don't have the LED backlight but have contemplated upgrading to that. I do have GPSS though and as of right now everything plays nicely. I am envious of the wind calculations on the Aspen though.
  18. I like that my stratus is completely independent of the aircraft's electrical system from a redundancy standpoint. I suppose this would still be maintained if permanently mounted unless for some reason the remove the battery. Maybe they would have to do this so it doesn't continuously charge off the aircraft battery while the engine is off.
  19. My small 20 lbs dog has no problem jumping in and out of the plane by himself. I imagine your bigger dogs won't have much trouble.
  20. I've seen a lot of variability but it's usually a month or two.
  21. I've got the same problem. I've been meaning to adjust the spring but haven't done it yet
  22. I would love to see a comparison between the 4 way gps average and a calculated TAS based on IAS. I bet there's only a 1-2 knot difference.
  23. Well that's pretty cool
  24. This is how I feel too. To me the AP is required equipment when I'm flying single pilot IFR.
  25. I'm always worried that updating the firmware will break something. I've got a 530w and a Sandel 3500. Both have updates available but everything seems to be working fine. Any arguments for updating in this case?
