  1. FYI, I have just replaced my leaking Dukes boost pump with the new Weldon one. It was pretty easy swap. I did it myself and my mechanic supervised and sign it off. The original Dukes was 1499-00-19A on my 1977 M20J and the direct swap is Weldon 18020-A. First I have ordered the Weldon A8186-A as it is listed under Mooney within my serial number range but it was wrong one. I paid $ 793 at Aircraft Spruce which is pretty good deal compare to the new or even overhauled Dukes. I have read some good reviews on Weldon and it is continuous operation pump. And it looks pretty and shiny.
  2. Very nice. Where can I get it?
  3. I was 35 years old when I started to learn English. It was 15 years ago. That's why I got pretty good in spelling ( I am not saying in grammar). I had to memorize all the words since the pronunciation and spelling is so different. Anyway, one thing I know for sure ( and it drives me crazy ) : It's a HANGAR not a HANGER. Hangar is for a plane. Hanger is for a coat.
  4. I file IFR and put " Familiar with SFRA" in the remarks. The only difference is that you have to keep the squawk code until you stop on the ramp even if you canceled the IFR in the air.
  5. My first year owning my J. 185 hrs. I hope to keep it around this number or higher as I am planing to fly more for my business too.
  6. Congrats. That's my next step. How many hours you have spent with the CFI practicing maneuvers?
  7. My started to drop the fuel so it is time for the overhaul / new one.
  8. Did you have to replace any fuel line and fitting with the Weldon? What model of Dukes did you replaced? Thanks.
  9. I have removed the panel and it looks pretty easy to get it out.
  10. Since my mechanic is not available right now, can I remove the boost pump from my J, send it for overhaul and then have my mechanic to reinstall it? Any paperwork needed in this point?
  11. I have to start to do that. I love dogs and I will be happy to help.
  12. Same here. Power cord attached to the oil dipstick body with about 6" slack. I use the cell phone remote switch from Reiff and it costs only $98 when bought together. Works great. I turn it on night before. It sends TXT about it's status or power outage.
  13. Nice and instructional. I am pretty fresh IR pilot and here is the question. Do ATC always help you get around the weather? Do you ask for it? I am always afraid to take off into the clouds and hit something violent in it. Thanks.
  14. I Access my power cord through the oil dipstick door. I don't have installed the a plug.
  15. I get and check everything on my Garmin Pilot. As you go through multiple sources over the time you find out that they all produce the same results. It make sense of course. It is just the way how you use the product. Diffrent people peel bananas different way with the same result. Notams are hardest. I go through them as much as I can and I still missed McGuire clearence delivery frequency outage this morning. It took me pretty long time to realize that before I call them on the phone.
  16. Beautiful leather pilot bag from my wife. Didn't expect that. Very nice mahagony Mooney model from my guys.
  17. Here is the question for experienced multileg IFR drivers. Let's say I want to fly from NJ to Daytona FL with the fuel stop in Savannah GA. How do you file? Do you file all legs ( two in this case) before you take off with estimated time of departure for second leg based on time you need to refuel and rest a little or you file each leg before you take off from the place you have stopped? Is there any other way to so that? Thanks.
  18. My propeler governor is leaking a little and it comes down to the nose gear well. Also, once my hose from the breather got disconnected from the pipe on the end and the oil went everywhere except out under the belly.
  19. Bob was already taken so I became MooneyBob.
