  1. My shinny spinner has cracked. I tried to google the part number but it returns very little info. It is McCauley D-6504 spinner. Where should I look to get new or overhauled one? What is the fair price for the spinner like this? Thanks
  2. Thank you guys for all your inputs. I will do more homework, get the quotes and go from there. Hopefully I will soon proudly post some after pics and show it to some of you at our next fly in.
  3. Yes. $ 20k is not a firm limit. I had to start somewhere and together with intended new interior later and other things it will add up quickly to the point where my financial officer will ask why I keep saying that the Gucci bag is stupid expensive waste.
  4. Yes, your panel was very similar to my current panel. I think I will do that in two steps. GPS and CGR30 now and then complete new panel with Aspens or Garmin 500 and ADS-B couple years later. Waiting for some quotes. Thanks.
  5. Here are some pics. I'd like to keep the strikefinder and I have purchased CGR30P premium package engine monitor that will go in instead of DG. I have limited budget though. Around 20k? Autopilot is Century IIB. No altitude hold.
  6. . Good points. I need to learn a little more about that in order to make right decision. Thanks.

  8. I finally decide to get the GPS. I have no experiences with any panel installed GPS units so far. I use Garmin Pilot app and I like it. That's why I am leaning towards Garmin either 650 or 750. 1. Any reason to go with 750 except larger screen? Is the 650 small for aging eyes? 2. Any reason take a serious look at the Avidyne IFD540? 3. What is the expected price for installed 650 and 750? 4. Any other equipment recommended to comply with the ADS-B out? 5. Any recommended avionic shops in the NJ, PA, NY area? Thanks
  9. That's what I said. Next time count me in. I pay for my travel expenses.
  10. I have 1977 M20J and my first year looked like this: AIG through AOPA I had 120 Total Time I had 25 Complex Mandatory 10 hours with CFI in my Mooney Mandatory 10 hours solo in the Mooney Hull $70k ( before any upgrades) It was around $ 1700
  11. I don't remember exactly what my place card says but I think the RPM restriction applies over 80 knots and for longer period of time. I might be wrong.
  12. What phase of the flight / approach you are under 15" of MP? For how long? What is the speed?
  13. I have the same J. First of all my boost pump pressure is 25 lbs. My starting procedure is: Mixture OFF / Idle Prop FULL Froward Throttle at the Position after last cut off engine ( 1300 - 1400 RPM) that is about 3/4" I guess. Master ON Boost pump ON ( 25 lbs pressure in split second) Mixture FULL ( 6 seconds work for me) Mixture CLOSED Boost pump OFF Crank the engine. When the engine is cold it starts immediately after 1/2 of the prop turn. When the engine is preheated it takes 3-4 turns to start. Hot engine start: Assuming the throttle is in the last cut off position ( 1300-1400 RPM). Don't touch anything. Just crank the engine. It takes more turns ( probably 6-7) to start. If it didn't start I prime it for 2-3 seconds ( open mixture and boost pump) and try again. Usually works fine.
  14. My stick is made from 1/8" aluminum plate ( so technically it's not a stick) so it depends where you put it on the bottom of the tank. It can be 1-2 gallon difference in reading. That's why I am cautious to rsly on it too much.
  15. I have one that came with the plane from previous owner. It works pretty well however I never really verified the accuracy. I always round the amount of fuel down to nearest gallon or two. I will take a picture of it with the ruler next to it so maybe people can copy and fabricate one. Not today though as I have some nasty white surprise in my driveway.
  16. Get a lottery ticket.
  17. Just curious, what is corroded on the engine, how did you find out? Any performance issues? Thanks.
  18. I have replaced my Dukes boost pump with the Weldon one. It started to drip a little fuel so it is time for overhaul. I hope the new Weldon will last for while so I can get rid of my old Dukes. I am not looking for any profit or get rich of it. I hope it will help somebody to get in the air again. Dukes 1499-00-10A
  19. Thanks for the idea.
  20. That sounds right.
