  1. The other gotcha is if you are off the magenta line because you deviated via HDG, then return to GPSS mode, it will make for a 45 intercept of the magenta, it won't just go directly to the waypoint like you might expect, so you'll need to direct-to to establish a new magenta, you could do the same to deviate around weather
  2. If you have GTN, you can just rubber band the route.
  3. What's the point of having a great GPS system and not connect it to the autopilot? For the stec 50, it can track VOR course but cannot intercept it, with GPSS, it can intercept the course, cycle thru waypoints, while I check weather, engine monitor, and look for traffic. 1 AMU is nothing in grand scheme of things
  4. Any regrets doing removing the ram air, what are the benefits?
  5. That's about what it cost ($7200) for my GDL88 & FS210 installation
  6. They don't know what your conditions are, sometimes they ask...
  7. That book doesn't get good reviews, more of a collection of stories, I would recommend "flying IFR" by Richard Collins
  8. The guy your emailing with doesn't set the fees, that's like complaining to an IRS agent about the tax rates, they could care less
  9. Nope, not 0%, there is a vid of a cirrus with chute deployed and its descending slowly but engulfed in flames, a couple died IIRC
  10. There is too many nice airplanes out there at good prices to take a chance IMHO
  11. I just had 88/210 combo installed a week ago and had my 650 firmware update d, so I'm at the latest levels, my 650 was installed 6 months ago. I don't get the TAWs system test like you do on the simulator and certainly didn't pay for it as an option and IIRC I got it on the 430 as well. If it matters my DBs are up to date as well
  12. No, I've gotten terrain warnings, check your configuration and find a secluded area where you and drop below 500 agl, you should get both audio and visual warnings
  13. We should split "pilot error" into 2 categories, pilot error and pilot stupidity, this goes into the later
  14. I'm curious why doesn't AOPA hold them at airports instead of hotels and offices that requires you to drive....seems counterintuitive to me?
  15. Doesn't it used the existing fuel sensors (2 in each tank), so that wouldn't be true in this case?
  16. Many planes are sold via brokers, so for those you won't be able to question the seller
  17. Most of the ?s you asked can be answered by looking in the logs
  18. Are the gross weight restrictions are statement about the takeoff performance or landing stresses? I'm thinking the Boeings have to dump fuel to land on truncated flights because they are too heavy to land, but obviously can takeoff
  19. Has anybody weighed their plane to compare with current W&B that has evolved over the years?
  20. So I count about 7 methods, question for the following, how many turns does it take for a normal start? Kmyfm20s, flyby201, n201mkturbo, awkward, elliotr
  21. What were your throttle and mixture positions when running the pump?
  22. Took a while for the chute to fully deploy and plane level out. Also surprise the plane floated sideways, would thought the plane would weathercock into the wind
  23. I had a problem during the test flight with the avionics guy, the Flightstream Bluetooth connection was made, but got no data, we had to reset the 210, so far that is only hiccup I've seen in 3 flights
  24. I notice you did the throttle after the boost pump, as Bob noted, do it before...+2 on the sound of the battery...FIW, I had problems started that went away after my mags were serviced.
  25. In the long run, your yearly fuel, hangar, maintenance expenses will dwarf the net purchase price of the plane. Get the best plane you can afford and one that you won't outgrow.
