  1. having assets makes you a target. Insure appropriately.
  2. I believe he went across the runway from the factory
  3. Art and Al would be proud
  4. great point, David. We should all strive for professionalism in our flight ops and habits. The airlines have developed ops based on a lot of valuable data that we can put at our disposal with the proper training. I really enjoy flying with the pros when I am called to and look forward to when we can fly together. I try to share these valuable nuggets with everyone I fly with and with the rest of the Mooney Pros, Inc. instructor team
  5. If you price it correctly, you will most likely sell it to the first caller. If you are there to maximize your potential selling price, expect to put a lot of time into the sales process and deal with a whole lot of tire kickers, unqualified buyers and be demonized for your pricing prior to finding someone who just loves everything about your plane. Its all up to you. That doesn't mean to imply that you give it away, but price it like you were about to make an offer on it yourself, and it should sell quickly.
  6. Thats only 1 'bama supermodel,,, maybe. You know how many USC cheerleaders you can get into a Mooney, Encore or not? Zero,,,,nadda... Unless we can convince Jonny, David, Kevin^2 to build one that burns 50+ GPH of jet A it will probably never happen...
  7. Scott was on the agenda for the Summit VIII we postponed, perhaps @Seth has him back on. I know Seth is busy putting this Summit together as the reins pass to the younger gen of Mooney pilots and will soon have the agenda up.
  8. Im curious of your thoughts about gain of function research, Brad
  9. It only takes once in these big bore fire breathing Mooney's to get your attention. As we have talked, in addition to checklist, develop a muscle memory of checking for incoming traffic, checking the trim and other takeoff indicators and settings, then "lights camera action" right before crossing the runway threshold. Great save, it could have been different!
  10. Brian is at my old homedrone Hidden Lake airpark FA40, which is a private airport that requires submitting proof of insurance prior to using the airport if anyone is considering Brians services. I have met him once and he seemed like a straight up guy
  11. I believe your problem is Andrew Jackson is being "cancelled" and wont exist going forward. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/535127-biden-replaces-andrew-jackson-portrait-in-oval-office-adds-cesar
  12. You are correct, the extra weight of the fuel is harder on the shock , over time. Per Paul Beck, There were a few years around the 1999 time frame as a direct result of cost cutting measures, the factory's sealant process was less than effective at attaining maximum life, leaving most of them in this vintage having to have been resealed early or needing to now in spite of any proper maintenance procedures, landing techniques, or alignment of the stars.
  13. but you sure have patched your tanks more than once, and now need a complete reseal You don t have to completely fill them, but should keep them at least 2/3s per the expert, Paul Beck.
  14. Being new to Mooneys really doesn't affect sealant life, but proper care does of course. When Paul does a complete strip and reseal, it will serve one well thru most of ones flying life as you elude to. Paul is very open on how to help keep sealant pliable and able to get maximum life from it. While it is resilient, hard landings do not compromise the integrity, but if the sealant is brittle, everything does. I trust this is what you meant when you said you were a relatively new pilot your landings in the Mooney were less than smooth. Keeping the tanks relatively full and in a hangar, out of the sun, will go a long ways in keeping the sealant pliable. Shock disks not so much
  15. I dont know when they shut the factory paint shop up, but that was surely quite a while ago, prior to the 2009 closure and ownership change. Paint has been one of the issues regardless of where it is done. A state of the art paint shop would be subordinated to a body in white and wrap if I was in charge of the world.
  16. Congrats! I trained Clark and John in this plane. Both excellent pilots and I am sure were excellent caretakers.
  17. Dang Ray, you change Mooneys faster than I change underwear
  18. Great choice
  19. You are quite correct. Dan Gryder is incorrect on pg 10 of his research not showing the Mooney Family having these 2. It seems like such a long time ago, but by looking back at the Mooney Summit's Bill Gilliland foundation records, we lost Dennis and Bonnie Powell from Spruce Creek last Feb, and John Calvert in March
  20. Sorry about that... here is the pic. The Vent is on the "2"
  21. The Kelly Aerospace system installed in a few of the new Ultras I have been in works great. The factory ac for I believe more $ isnt nearly as good based on my Florida Boy sweat reactor gauge. Notice the intake is out the side of the plane behind the radio rack (on the "2"), instead of a scoop on the underside causing drag.
  22. Send me a PM if you would like Mooney Pros, Inc. to assist in the reposition and transition training
  23. last year was a good year for Mooney's in regards to fatalities. Zero. There were 188 Total GA fatalities [1] Cessna led the way with 39 Piper 31 Bonanza 15 Vans 8 Cirrus 4 [1] Dan Gryder research
  24. I have had Drew do a lot of work for me. He is honest and competent.
