  1. Rick is enroute to Tampa as I type, and this will be discussed this evening as we vet the official beer of the Summit. Tomorrow promises to be an action packed day of planning with TPA, Atlas, Aloft, Marriott, Barrymore as Seth is also flying in later tonight. Soon after, registered attendee's will be receiving an email with more info. Thanks Seth, Rick for giving up a few days of your life to make this happen for Mooney and other pilots.
  2. Being in Greenwood, Ind, where I went down 7 years ago on July 11 in a Bravo with a rebuilt and locally hung engine, I am sure the FBO lobby is full of stories for you. Might I suggest you have Eric at Oasis or Don at Maxwell aviation do this job. This isnt the time to let anyone learn. This is the accident that inspired the Bill Gilliland foundation to be set up to assist downed Mooney Pilots' families while I recovered at IU methodist trauma center.
  3. I think they charge about $50 to recalibrate the older units, and thats just under half of what a new one with the Aviation sticker would cost, plus you have one to give to a friend Now, if the label were to have a Mooney on it, available only at MSC's, it might be closer to $500
  4. Sensorcon is donating a few of these for the raffle at the Mooney Summit VIII once again this year. Thanks Sensorcon. @DanM20C, do you know how many they have sold approximately using the discount code they gave you to give to us bug smashers? Last I heard, it was close to 1000. Great product, and as you have pontificated, a real life saver for not much more than a couple of decent bottles of wine.
  5. Tailwinds Bumper, thanks for all the insight you have given me and many other old timers.I have completely enjoyed what I have gleaned from you, as I'm sure have many
  6. Hank brings up a great point about security. With traffic shaping to catch "domestic terrorist" happening and all the nefarious actors, a VPN in today's digital environment is a must on any wifi you are not in complete security control of. I am sure @gsxrpilot can expand more. Personally I use a product called IPvanish on all my wifi enabled devices, including things like firestick. With this, I am far less paranoid about paying bills electronically, using cash app or zelle, buying more TSLA stock or whatever. In hotels, I will generally just use the carrier's signal vs the free hotel wifi if having to share any sensitive info. YMMV, but thats how I roll. Along the same lines of an online silent auction, we are also considering using an application to choose raffle winners vs the old school ticket in a coffee can, have a cute girl pull the winner method. The upside is it will speed things along, allow us to name the winner by name vs having someone check their ticket numbers and it will make each ticket that much more valuable as once your name is selected, that entry remains in the pool for the next item. Thoughts?
  7. Neil, this is your chance to get back into a Mooney, one part at a time! This year, shock disk and fuel senders...next year, who knows, maybe a IO550 TN
  8. Rick has done an outstanding job at putting this event together! His tireless dedication to ensuring the success will be obvious to our attendees. Thanks Rick for all the A$$bustin...
  9. what would you pay for it today I I had it for sale?
  10. Peter, next week when you get to the plane, see if you can grab the data again. Paul Kortopates @kortopatesat Saavy can give you a good analysis of what the heck is going on. Give my best to all and to Nik and Burnadette
  11. I know it for fact it can add 12 kts TAS to about every bench flying debrief
  12. Email Rick.junkin@mooneysummit.com and he will fix you up!
  13. After careful and deliberate consideration of many many possibilities, an official beer for the Mooney Summit's reception has been chosen and will be available for your evaluation at the Friday evening reception/BBQ. Please test responsibly
  14. David, @DonKaye has close to this setup in his 93 ish Bravo. Also @kortopates Paul Kortopates may have some files he could share from Saavy clients.
  15. Thanks, Anik and I have communicated. The Mooney Summit, Inc will be reaching out to Leon and Sharon. I know this injury well.

  19. ...and Teresa Cunningham is making a Mooney Summit VIII quilt to be auctioned off at our silent auction, which will have all of the tail numbers of those registered by 2200 tonight, when the tail number info will be downloaded and sent to her so she can begin the labor of love for the quilt. Now is the time today is the day to register if you have not already! Thanks for your most generous donation of time, Teresa.
  20. if you replace the www.amazon.com/xxxxx with smile.amazon.com/xxxxx, you can donate 1/2 of one percent of your purchases to a charity of your choice. Shameless plug....select Mooney Summit, Inc. as your charity to help keep the coffers topped for when we might need to assist a Mooney family member. So far, we receive about 100$ every quarter from Mr. Bezos, and I personally want to thank each of you who help by taking the time to order using amazon smile Thanks
  21. agreed, and now understand your intent.
  22. Ill respectfully disagree, all engines benefit from being well balanced and tuned to have equal flow characteristics on all cylinders. Some benefit more, especially at high rpms as eluded to. Strong spark is important across all makes and models of engines, and especially true LOP
  23. What is your name I can look it up
  24. An email was sent out this morning to all registered attendee's that listed some of the hotel options to choose from, John. Our agenda is posted HERE and registration can be completed at www.mooneysummit.com We look forward to seeing everyone once again. This is going to be a really great Summit! Rick did a fantastic job putting the agenda together and Seth got the hotel arrangements all made. Thanks guys!
  25. The Bravo engine is a stout fellow. Once the ex valves were directly oiled instead of the "lets let the lifter bleed off drip down and take care of everything" concept of Lycoming lubrication, the engine really last a long time if properly ran. The mags could use some help, and once you hang a sure fly on it, that "problem" is mitigated somewhat. Tuning up the intake and fixing the ignition would allow for a more economical cruise setting like the Continental's only with out the continental issues (starter adapter, etc) Perhaps now the Chinese ownership of Mooney has ceased, the brain trust at Mooney can look at other than Chinese owned engine options. Undoubtedly this will take a large bucket of $$$ to go thru the fed thithe
