  1. What exactly does "with you" mean? Are you as one with ATC? Point is, especially on a busy freq, common wisdom is to drop the extraneous verbiage. Only a Bonanza driver would say "with you".
  2. You don't mention the location. I'd consider contacting a Mooney savvy (not Savvy) mechanic, possibly from a MSC, to see what it would cost to travel to the aircraft for an abbreviated prebuy.
  3. Recently replaced our Gill G35 wet cell battery with a Concord AGM. The Gill was still starting us fine but occasionally seemed hesitant. We often go 2-3 weeks between flights, and never use a charger. The Gill was 5 years old when replaced.
  4. Afraid not. Unless someone steps up and announces they are flying from western TN to either lunch at Cullman or directly to Knoxville, my partner has volunteered to DRIVE from Memphis to KTYS on Monday. Bummer
  5. I speak from experience....the Mooney glider rating is expensive and overrated
  6. Tony, Appreciate your ride offer, but at this point I don't have a way to get from Memphis to Cullman. Neil
  7. In addition to fuel lines, the fuel sender gasket has also been known to leak. Can you get by safely by ferrying the plane on the right tank?
  8. Sounds good to me; we can fly to TYS at 45% power I plan to hitch a ride up with Tom Winter, unless he decides he can't make the trip. Will let you know if I can't make it up, and appreciate the offer.
  9. Just got off the phone with Horizon @ KTYS, and 87Q is signed off and ready to go.
  10. Tony, Still unsure......As you know I'm still AOG at KTYS. If I can get rides from Memphis and to Knoxville I'll be there.
  11. After my annual in 2001, pilot & copilot could not attach our belts...........the shop had inadvertently swapped the front seats
  12. Seat swap - consider how the seat belts are mounted, assuming you also have shoulder belts. If you do not have shoulder belts, get them before you do anything else.
  13. Our M20C is currently AOG at KTYS, and we're in Memphis. If I can get to Cullman for lunch, is there a chance of someone going NE who can give me a lift to KTYS?
  14. Hi Tom,

This is Neil in Germantown. N5687Q is AOG at KTYS and should be repaired next week. If you fly east to the lunch next Saturday would you be willing to offer my partner or me a seat? I would then look for someone else at the lunch flying back toward Knoxville and hopefully avoid having a long RT drive to retrieve our C.

I understand..Jerry had quoted my project, but the bill was not near the quote. We will be having a "meeting" next week. My annual this go round was $3950. The shops base is $2K then whatever required. Does not include my oil, filter and Camguard. Only thing he noted was a plug that looked bad, so he replaced all 8. I'm still filtering the invoices. My final bill was about $10K higher than the original quote for everything. Next annual I'll probably use Same Jewell at Kennett.

Jerry just called me - I plan to bring 87Q up next week, probably Wed, for the ADS-B out install.

Get the quote in writing..lol     Good luck, please do not share our conversation. There is a lot of avionics it lots of warranty left, since they installed it I'm sure I'll need them later.

      Great talking with you today,

  15. Seems everyone is falling over each other to offer to ship or carry over that iPad case.  Since Becky is retired FedEx we get a shipping discount and it should work for an envelope to London. Would declare a $27 value so customs will be inconsequential. If you decide you would like us to ship it to you then have it delivered to Neil Cohen, 8982 Glenalden Dr, Germantown TN 38139

FedEx fee to me via PayPal?  As an option, I can probably have it left at my friend's hotel reception when they arrive in London in late Nov.  You can decide later

  16. Andrew,

What is it you need.  We aren't going over just yet, but Becky's friend is going to be in London shortly.

Don't tell me your running out of Marmite!

  17. 87Q is currently AOG at KTYS, and may not be repaired until early next week. Looking for a lift from the Memphis area to KTYS sometime on or after 10/17. The following weekend, 10/21-23 would be great. Usual offer to contribute toward expenses, lunch, etc. Please PM if you know of someone going to Knoxville. If I have to, I'd even reluctantly consider travel by car.
  18. Recently had my pitch servo rebuilt by sTec aka Genesis. They wired it backwards during the rebuild. My shop installed the rebuilt servo and confirmed it worked but did not confirm it worked in the correct direction. You know how exciting it can get when your pitch servo runs in the wrong direction? Genesis had this excuse: the same servo is used in many aircraft, but needs to be wired (by them) in reverse if it goes in a Mooney. The knew it was for a Mooney but failed to wire it accordingly. My shop had no excuse.
  19. In 2015 our prop cable became extremely difficult to adjust, and nearly impossible to move in cold weather, until the engine compartment and cabin had warmed. When we went in for annual we asked the shop to "lube the prop cable". Not sure how they handled that, but it has been very easy to adjust in the last 14 months.
  20. Maybe over-water ops, flying to the Caribbean and/or Cuba, water ditching techniques?
  21. May be, but the J they were renting was N301KC. The N # of the Mooney down starts with 5 and ends with M. Could be they changed rentals?
  22. Hi Andrew, I will be there Thursday evening.  If you want to join us for dinner, let me know.  It will probably be my wife Becky and I, and JoAnn Dubin (wife of one of the Summit organizers) and possibly 1-2 others.  Will be going sometime after the registration closes at 5pm.

What is your ALT-to-ECP flight number & time of arrival?

  23. We will all be at the Mooney Summit in Panama City Beach
  24. We expect to be adding a 5th item to the Silent Auction. Since details are still being worked out, this item will probably first be announced at the Registration next Thursday evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
  25. Hi Tom,

If you still need the shaft(s), and haven't yet tried either, contact Alan Fox 856 419 5209 or  jerrypressley 423 231 3491

Give my regards to Jerry if you call him (he & I flew down to DR in my E to have it painted)....

    Neil
