  1. What I have noticed lately is smaller crowds. I've been going to SNF for 25 years and it looked to me like last year the attendance was not great. I think when I saw the official numbers they looked well enough but it sure didn't seem like it. For many years you could barely move through the four hangars with the vendors. Last year it was a non-issue. Plenty of room. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. Perhaps I'm being too critical, but SNF gets a lot of visitors, and lots of folks from South America with money to burn. The big 3 always have sales and I though this would be a good opportunity for Mooney to ink a few. Maybe it is too soon and they could not make it work logistically Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  3. Just saw the list of exhibitors for SUN N FUN. Looks like Mooney is skipping it? I know the reunion at Kerrville is right after but not showing up at SUN N FUN is poor planning at best, and sends a terrible message and a lost opportunity to show ALL aviators they are back in the game. Am I missing something here? Has anyone heard from Mooney directly about their decision to attend (or not) SUN N FUN. I hope I'm wrong about this. Was really looking forward to seeing Mooney there this year! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  6. I live in Florida and keep my Mooney in a T- hangar. I apply corrosion-X every annual and fly it often. Corrosion has been a non-issue for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  14. Put a couple of drops of oil from the engine dipstick right on top of the cap. It will be good as new. That's what I do when mine gets stiff and it fixes it every time
  15. Foreflight works but I did not want to have everything there. I have manuals for every piece of equipment installed in my mooney. I going that Goodreader is really a great App for this Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  16. Unfortunately polysulfide sealant does harden with age. when the sealant is new or relatively new I seriously doubt rough fields can cause a leak unless you permanently deform the tank structure. After many years and after the sealant begins to harden it is plausible the hard sealant can disbond with excessive strain resulting in leaks. I work at an overhaul facility and see a LOT of old hardened sealant. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  17. Also use X/C 20/50 and I keep it at 6.5 quarts. It will spit out anything over that. I'll use one quart every 10-12 hours Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  21. Every year since 1982. Well, once in the 80's, and twice in the 90's did not make it, but every other time I've made it.

  24. Interestingly enough, I was coming back to my home field this weekend after a short trip and was asked to keep my speed up for a King Air on a long final. I locked the J-bar in the gear down position as I entered the downwind leg and shortly thereafter turned to base where I typically repeat the GUMPS checklist. As I checked the J-bar again I gave it a tug as I always do and for the first time, and quite to my surprise, it popped out of the lock! I pushed it back into the locked position and this time I gave it more than just a tug but it was firmly locked! Checked it on final like 5 times again and it was firmly locked. After all of this I came to the conclusion that I probably never actually got it into the locked position in downwind as I don't recall seeing or checking for a green light because I was rushing to get set up to fly a tight pattern for that King Air. At least my habit of repeating GUMPS on base and final saved the day. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
