  1. I think due to global warming the Bermuda Triangle has now shifted over to the Indian Ocean On a more serious note, I hope they figure this out soon because it's sure beginning to look like the implications could be quite serious if we don't get to the bottom of this soon. 2. I have a GX60 and I've never had a problem with it yet and it works well for both cruise and approach. In fact, I shot to GPS 23 approach to X60 with it yesterday. I certainly do not spend over $400 a year updating the database, however. I update it once a year then check the approach I'm going to use. There is a Mooneyspace member here that sells updates cheap. I'm going to give him a try and if it works out then I might update more often. An upgrade is definitely in my future as I would like to have a WAAS capable unit, but I'm in no hurry and I'm willing to wait to see what becomes available in the near future. In the mean time the GX60 does what I need it to do and if it fails I can replace it cheap and quickly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  3. I did have that problem once. I unplugged the connector on the back of the unit, cleaned it, plugged it back in and good as new. Could also be your fuel flow sensor, but less likely unless it is really old I think. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  4. OK. The 730 series does not have an orange display, in fact, it is virtually identical to the 830 except it does not have capability for MAP. Fuel flow is optional as is RPM. I have the 730 with fuel flow connected to my GPS and it's a great unit. I already had fuel flow in my plane (JPI FS 450) so I just replaced it with a 730. If I had to buy the 730 with the fuel flow option it might be best just to go with the 830. My only mistake is that the only hole in my panel was on the copilot side (see picture) and neither the 730 nor 830 has a wide viewing angle which means I have to lean over a bit to see it. I'll probably end up fabricating a 20 degree angle bracket to aim it my way a bit. Amazingly enough I have not been able to find one for sale anywhere. Spruce makes them for the smaller 2 inch holes but not for the 3 inch Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  5. Hope to meet some of you guys as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. I'll be there too Oscar Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  7. Snow? What's snow? Ain't got none of that white stuff here in Florida Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  8. I had it in my C before I replaced it with a complete engine monitor with fuel flow. There is a setting in the FS-450 specifically for carbureted engines as I recall. Also bear in mind that the fuel flow may bounce around a little in a carb engine but not too bad. It always predicted fuel remaining to within one gallon even after 4 hours of flight. I also had it connected to the GPS for even more utility. WELL WORTH THE SMALL INVESTMENT. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  10. Have not used paper in quite some time. If the weather at the destination is not looking great and looks like I'll be shooting an approach I sometimes print the approach plates from Foreflight as a backup to the backup. Does not happen often at all. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  11. I remember when SNF was $10. Now it's $37 for regular folks and $32 for pilots. They know we (pilots) will pretty much pay whatever because we enjoy the heck out of being there, but they are definitely crowding out the casual aviation enthusiast who is not wiling to blow over $100 per day to go see this with his family. 12. What I have noticed lately is smaller crowds. I've been going to SNF for 25 years and it looked to me like last year the attendance was not great. I think when I saw the official numbers they looked well enough but it sure didn't seem like it. For many years you could barely move through the four hangars with the vendors. Last year it was a non-issue. Plenty of room. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  13. Perhaps I'm being too critical, but SNF gets a lot of visitors, and lots of folks from South America with money to burn. The big 3 always have sales and I though this would be a good opportunity for Mooney to ink a few. Maybe it is too soon and they could not make it work logistically Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  14. Just saw the list of exhibitors for SUN N FUN. Looks like Mooney is skipping it? I know the reunion at Kerrville is right after but not showing up at SUN N FUN is poor planning at best, and sends a terrible message and a lost opportunity to show ALL aviators they are back in the game. Am I missing something here? Has anyone heard from Mooney directly about their decision to attend (or not) SUN N FUN. I hope I'm wrong about this. Was really looking forward to seeing Mooney there this year! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  16. Wow, that's a panel there!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  17. I live in Florida and keep my Mooney in a T- hangar. I apply corrosion-X every annual and fly it often. Corrosion has been a non-issue for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  25. Put a couple of drops of oil from the engine dipstick right on top of the cap. It will be good as new. That's what I do when mine gets stiff and it fixes it every time
