laytonl Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Yesterday and today my Garmin 530 displayed two messages, "G/S is not responding" "VLOC is not responding" I think this has been discussed before, but I may have a slight wrinkle on the problem. Each time, my King DME acted flaky too. The DME was being fed from the KX-155 at the time. Ultimately the DME returned to normal but the 530 didn't. Could this be an antenna problem, or am I looking at a $1,000 trip to Garmin? Anybody seen this before? Lee Quote
Cruiser Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 the only comment I could find on any of the other message boards using their search function was one from Beech Talk. In that case, it was suggested the GPS be sent back to Garmin for a nav board replacement. I found this message about a GNS 430W here. http://mooneyspace.com/topic/9317-garmin-430w-error-messages/?hl=%2Bvloc+%2Bresponding Quote
Piloto Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 It is not an antenna problem. But maybe a ground connection on pin 41 of P5006 connector. Before spending $1K try the following: Remove the 530 from it's tray and spray contact cleaner on the connectors. Reinstall the 530 and try it. The message you are getting appears to indicate that there is no power to the NAV PC board. Good Luck José Quote
laytonl Posted August 12, 2013 Author Report Posted August 12, 2013 Thanks guys. I will try contact cleaner first and then take the expensive route. Lee Quote
laytonl Posted September 12, 2013 Author Report Posted September 12, 2013 Update. My 530 fixed itself! This is probably not permanent, but the "VLOC not responding" has not reappeared after several flights. Lee Quote
