yvesg Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Anyone have seen something similar on Foreflight? Looks like a bug to me. Yves
Marauder Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 It looks like a radar anomaly based on the circular pattern. Let me try pulling it up and see what i get in WingX and Pilot.
Marauder Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 It is a radar anomaly. Looks like some sort of radial spread. Interestingly, it is originating from my state! I can assure you, no weather like that here now!
yvesg Posted June 28, 2013 Author Report Posted June 28, 2013 This anomaly shows up at 11:20 AM, centered just south of Dover... Yves
yvesg Posted June 28, 2013 Author Report Posted June 28, 2013 Martin, I noticed on your picture... the Canadian weather is not shown... we are really in the soup now here. Foreflight does show it. Yves
Marauder Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 My pictures were taken from Garmin Pilot. I think I need to pay to have Canadian information show up. The phenomenon that we are seeing is intend coming just south of Dover. I believe Dover's regional radar is on the actual base itself. Where it is showing as the origin is right where I was this past weekend -- KGED!!
Marauder Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Here is a picture from WingX's weather maps for the Northeast US. Same thing...
Marauder Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 We are experiencing high humidity here, wonder if that plays into it.

I unloaded my ForeFlight to make room for a trial version of WingX or else I would see what that shows.
N201MKTurbo Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 It looks like the radar has the antenna angle very low, it is seeing the ground. I have had the opportunity to operate one of the weather service radars. They are normally set on automatic, but sometime the operator will run it manually, or it could be down for maintenance and the tech forgot to take it offline. Either way the radar got into the national database when it shouldn't have.
takair Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 I hope this is not the governments latest TFR.
MARZ Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 I'm thinking crop circles..... oooooooeeeeeeeeoooooooooo
NotarPilot Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 I thought it was the mothership paying a visit.
mulro767 Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Maybe it's in honor of Gay Pride Weekend? It does look very pretty.
