Vent duct

My hose under the passenger side has several holes. It is the black one running from the fresh inlet to the defroster fan (I think). What size hose is this and any suggestions for getting the old one off? It seems like Otis glued in place? Should I just cut it???

I made a little tool out of some 3/32" stainless welding rod that is invaluable for removing scat tube and the like. The tool is shaped like a "P", but at the base of the P there is a 90* bend (like the bottom of a "B" (but no curve up). The straight base is about 1.5" long and is tapered with a rounded polished tip. (Hint, shape and polish this part before bending the rod to form the tool.)

 

To use the tool, the polished tip is inserted between the scat tube and the metal duct fitting it is stuck to. Then the tip is worked around the circumference of the fitting lifting the scat tube gently off as it progresses. Once most of the scat tube is unstuck, the tube and can be rotated and pulled off the fitting.

 

All that said, if the holes aren't too big and the rest of your vent hose is in reasonable shape, how about patching it? Self fusing rubber tape is great for repairs like that.

Thanks for the help. This hose is toast! I found it one cold day over PA. I froze for an hour and nearly had to land because my fingers were getting numb. 

 

I can't tell if it is a 3" hose or not?  any idea the usual size?

Hey great idea for a scat tube tool!!I use a bent/ground/polished screw driver...yours sounds better though
