mikey757 Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 Does anyone have experience/opinions with Skycom Avionics in Waukesha, WI.? Quote
AndreiC Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 I know that the owner (Rich Morey) of the smaller airport here in Madison (Morey Field) swears by them. Rich and his family have been in the aviation business for 3 generations, and know it inside and out, so I would guess that Skycom is very good. My impression of Skycom was the same, the one time I dealt with them for a small project: pricier than others, but do very good work. Quote
sw1024 Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 I had them do my IFR certs and swap out my DG which had failed. They also came over to the shop that was doing my annual after their work was done to address a bad wire that had shorted out my ppt. Diagnosed it and helped the shop fix it without charging me or even making me wait. Really nice guy, really helpful. Even sent me a Christmas card this year. I know they were booked out many months when I asked about doing a G5 install. Good shop, I will use them for any and all future avionics. Quote
Medicpilot Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 They installed a Garmin 355 GPS for me in our flying clubs 172. They did a good job. Only one minor issue is they rewired the panel an one engine instrument needs moved to the main bus. They are taking care of it without headache. I will use them for my Mooney in the future. Quote
marcusku Posted February 3 Report Posted February 3 I've used them before as well. I think they are very knowledgeable and do good work though maybe not the cheapest. Pete, the owner is really impressive what he can figure out. He replaced a couple of capacitors in my autopilot computer and got it to work again. Quote
