Completely new panel and annunciator options

Recommended Posts

On the new ultra models, Mooney was able to eliminate the annunciator panel completely and program all of them into the CAS messages on the NXI.
I was looking at the configuration manuals and options on the TXI and there are more than enough open programmable options to eliminate the legacy annunciator panel within that system.
Has anyone done this, or can anyone explain why it couldn’t be done?

I’m not aware of why it couldn’t be programmed, but I think the road block would be what your shop would program and what Garmin would allow within their STC.  I’m not sure if the STC for the Mooney includes this.

i.e. for my MVP50 there are aural alerts for all kinds of things, ability to program WAV files for alerts, etc that aren’t authorized for certified aircraft.

I don’t actually have a service manual, that doesn’t come with the unit, I got into the configuration but most was greyed out because I didn’t have the boot card but there were many options unassigned.   I don’t know the limits of those functions.

Based on the listed discrete inputs it isn't clear that it can help much with annunciations unless you have the EIS, which will handle volts, amps, and low fuel.  Nothing for gear  and others you might have.  After installing the EIS, for my M20J, I only had the gear left (no vacuum, ram air, etc. annunciations) so I used an Eaton style annunciator for the gear and was able to remove the annunciator panel. YMMV depending on what annunciatios are in your annunciator panel.
