For me doesn't make sense that you cannot change the oil in your hangar or that they qualify that as major repair when is something the owner can do without supervision.

They consider themselves that they are “reasonable”. They provide a “Tenant Maintenance Hangar” free of charge. 
 

I started in the T-Hangars in the “old days” - pre 2006 when they had cheap small self -standing T-hangars on the North side that were literally rusting away/walls settling. Back then they could care less what you did in the leased hangar. Not so after they built the new (2006) hangars. Don’t delude yourself into thinking that you are the first owner to protest. There are 17 years of owners ahead of you…

For sure, but I think is necessary for everyone that does not agree to share that with the management. So the management can have an idea if it's just one crazy person, or everyone is asking protesting against the same thing.

Perhaps I was too subtle. It is not “one crazy person “. This is longstanding 17 year policy by the (iron ass) City which owns the airport. The more you ask and protest, the more you will invite scrutiny and inspections. 
 

Have you looked for a hanger at Houston Southwest?  KAXH. It is privately owned and not by the city of Arcola. I get the impression they are more flexible.

FWIW, the regular household red-nosed sprayers work fine with mineral spirits.  I can attest to this almost gassing myself the last couple weekends spraying down the motor.

Nothing dissolves or falls apart, but I'm sure some of the plastics seals swell in the solvent, so I empty it out the bottle and sprayer after use.  I'm still on the first spray bottle after a year, it still seems to work fine

I think mineral spirits is really very safe with plastic, if it weren’t then I don’t think it would be a good idea to clean your engine with it, and I believe it often comes in plastic containers.

It was all we were allowed to use in the Military on engines and I’m 90% sure it’s what PWC calls for on their PT-6’s too.

I know you know that all plastics are not the same.  There are MANY different materials called plastic.  Some are resistant to solvents, some are not.

Yeah, I wouldn't generalize. I have had already a bad experience by assuming some given plastic would be compatible with some given solvent.

There are some good compatibility charts, like this one: https://www.plasticsintl.com/chemical-resistance-chart For instance, Teflon (PTFE) is one of the most stable plastics.

The challenge is knowing all the different types of plastics that there are in an engine compartment...

The only one I have any direct experience with is lacquer thinner on the vinyl roof of my '84 Oldsmobile.  Like ocean waves rolling over a sand castle.

Nah, they were different decades. Vinyl roofs were gone before I started high school, and Members Only hit big during my 5-1/2 year college career. I had a fake one from Pakistan . . . .

First, my recommendation to everyone I meet who is about to retire is "don't".  The sudden cessation of cash flow will change your life, and not in a good way.

Second, for what it's worth, I heard yesterday that the S&P is now in bull market territory.  I'm not sure how the S&P can be a bull, and everyone is talking recession and depression.  Oh, and we added 339,000 new jobs last month.

Strange times, for sure.

It depends on your situation.  I retired to a higher cash flow.

Because it has risen 20% since its recent low. Yes - If you have nothing invested and you buy at the low in every cycle then it looks like a bull market.  If your great or grandparents invested everything in 1932 when the Dow was 41 or you invested everything in 1980 or at the low in 2009 everything is up.  It’s great if all your investments are in cash (or you you know when to get out of every stock at is peak like Enron, RIM-Blackberry, every oil price cycle etc ) and you know the low when to get back in. But it is impossible to time the market.

It's all in the prep.   I've found retirement to be a pretty awesome gig.   Highly recommended, but you do need to be prepared.

So, that "bull market" was pretty easy to get to based on recent performance?
