TN-G Posted February 12, 2023 Report Posted February 12, 2023 There’s a label on the panel that says Gear Speed 120mph. What does that mean?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
jetdriven Posted February 12, 2023 Report Posted February 12, 2023 You mean this one? http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2020/08/mooney-m20c-ranger-n6080q-incident.html?m=0 You forgot to mention the gear-up landing. 1 Quote

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk You would need to confirm with the POH for that plane, but 120 mph Gear Speed is the fastest indicated air speed that you can drop the gear. Retraction maximum speed may be lower. As a manual "johnson bar" landing gear, I am told that bringing it up as soon as possible is a good idea to keep lower aerodynamic loads that you need to overcome. 2 Quote

Engine has 1700 SMOH, seems silly not to overhaul the engine IF they had to tear it down to do necessary inspection after a prop strike? First thing Id ask to see is the logs, but personally I would not touch it. 2 Quote

This one is for someone that understands the FAA requirement for engine inspection after a gear up which this one has had done. All logs from day one as well as all parts books and service manuals. B hub prop etc. Pull up the N number for current owner. 13 hours ago, ArtVandelay said: Engine has 1700 SMOH, seems silly not to overhaul the engine IF they had to tear it down to do necessary inspection after a prop strike? jetdriven Posted February 12, 2023 Report Posted February 12, 2023 Funny you forgot to mention that both on the ebay ad and here. So now you're warranting the crank gear inspection has been done but the engine wasnt torn down and inspected? Was the gear replaced or was it magnetic particle inspected? Quote

The gear never fails , Not sure why the AD doesnt make you replace the locating pin.... Those DO fail.. Quote
