I am looking to replace all three tires and tubes on my 1965 E.  I have looked at the major distributors but do not get much information.  Will a Michelin500x5 (6 ply) fit in the nose well ok?  Looking primarily at Michelin and Condor.  Suggestions of sources? Plan to use Air Stop tubes in any case.

It will fit just fine.

If you’re looking for lasting a long time, the Goodyear flight III, the expensive one does, but it isn’t cheap. Nose wheel tire will last just about forever so maybe don’t go high buck there?

I buy tires from Desser, and have never used air stop tubes and haven’t had a problem. I add air maybe three or four times a year. Airhawk tires seem to me to be a good match for good price yet a decent long life.

But I have also seen great results from recaps too, I believe even the Airlines run recaps. I think recaps will be my next set. I’m currently running tires I got from work a few years ago that were meant for a large crop duster tailwheel tire.

A lot depends on if your the guy who always buys the best or the guy who’s looking for the best value.

As always the above is my opinion, others will have different opinions

I use the Goodyears, but not the Custom IIIs--their speed rating is well above my maximum speed with the wheels down, and double my takeoff speed, so I save some dough and get the Customs, not the Custom II or III.

Since I used to be based at a short field without a parallel taxiway, every departure and landing included a 180, so I use Condor nose tires. Since moving, they now last a long, long time!
