laytonl Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 What’s the difference between Sceet and venair duct? I’ve never heard of venair but saw it on https://customductsaircraftsceetandscat.com/about-ducting/. my mechanic says I need to replace all my ducts. lee Quote
Igor_U Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 Venair is manufacturer that makes all sorts of ducts including SCEET. SCEET is double wall silicone duct while SCAT is single wall silicone duct. I think original Mooney ducts are SCAT but here many people use SCEET. 24 minutes ago, laytonl said: What’s the difference between Sceet and venair duct? jetdriven Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 Sceet is ok for some things but never where any suction can be. Like carburetor heat. The suction collapses the inner layer and starves the carburetor. Quote
EricJ Posted December 21, 2022 Report Posted December 21, 2022 SCAT and SCEET are acronyms. CAT is Collapsible Air Tubing, with the original black stuff not being quite high enough temp rating for firewall forward use. The stuff made of silicone is higher temp rating, so Silicone Collapsible Air Tubing is SCAT. I can't for the life of me remember what CEET stands for, but it's also an acronym, so SCEET is just CEET made with silicone. Venair is apparently just a particular brand of SCAT and SCEET supplier. Your mechanic apparently just has a preference for Venair brand SCAT or SCEET. It looks like they make both. 1 Quote
laytonl Posted December 21, 2022 Author Report Posted December 21, 2022 Perhaps it is just a difference is suppliers. Here is the website image. Thanks for the responses. Lee Quote
