good2eat Posted August 21, 2022 Report Posted August 21, 2022 The last week has been a whirlwind. Closed on the purchase of N201NG and traveled to Maryland from Oregon for transition training and to move the plane home. I have to give huge props to: Seller Phatex1337 for being amenable to my desire to have the PPI done a few hours from home. RPM Aircraft Services. Byron Rodgers (jet driver) for your service and advice Transition CFI Brian Elbert (found on the Mooney flyer). His patience, knowledge and instruction are top notch. If you need services, I highly recommend both of these fine gentlemen. I already have north of 30 hours on my plane and moved it from Maryland to Oregon in an epic 2 day crossing. For those of you wondering if you can transition, I would say yes. The 3 solid days of instruction I received (21 hours) have put together a solid base from which to grow. The trip itself was amazing and diverse with most hours in smooth air coupled with a smaller number that required patience, some skill and a watchful eye on buildups and deviation around. We had an amazing trip and look so forward to the many adventures to come. These are amazing planes! Leaving FDK Parking at RDM 11 Quote
jaylw314 Posted August 21, 2022 Report Posted August 21, 2022 Congratulations! It looks like you're just over the hills from me, give me a holler if you have any questions! 1 Quote
Pinecone Posted August 21, 2022 Report Posted August 21, 2022 Excellent. Byron helped me during the finding and buying also. I couldn't use him for the pre-buy due to distance. I went down to TX last weekend to do transition training with Matt Weitzel (also found on Mooney flyer). A nice relaxed 3 day (extra day due to weather) trip home to NE MD. 1 Quote
A64Pilot Posted August 21, 2022 Report Posted August 21, 2022 Just don’t let anyone get you into a hurry, and go sterile cockpit on any approach, taxi to takeoff, run-up etc. Any complex aircraft needs more attention at critical times, so explain to whoever you fly with this before you fly Complacency gets us in trouble Quote
carusoam Posted August 21, 2022 Report Posted August 21, 2022 Great pireps for Byron at RPM and Brian Elbert Thanks for sharing the details. +1 for the CFI list at the MooneyFlyer… Best regards, -a- Quote
M20F Posted August 22, 2022 Report Posted August 22, 2022 It began with the Mighty Mite, it roped the winds as the Ranger, it leapt tall mountains as the Super, it did the big deals as the Executive, and it brought world peace as the Statesman. So in the end you could fly a NJ area code…… 2 Quote
carusoam Posted August 22, 2022 Report Posted August 22, 2022 Northern NJ only! Perfect for 201er… in KLDJ -a- 1 Quote
