joepilotmooney Posted July 7, 2022 Report Posted July 7, 2022 Folks: My J is in annual and my mechanic is looking for these parts. They called Mooney but only crickets - I told him I thought they are not even open right now. Any idea on where to source parts like these? Quote
KSMooniac Posted July 7, 2022 Report Posted July 7, 2022 I think the nose gear door hinges are just standard piano hinges that should be easy to get from Spruce or similar. Just match-drill the mounting holes from the originals, and gently countersink and they should be good to go. I don't remember the details of the cowl flap hinges but they could be similar. There are extruded piano hinges, and formed ones... The extruded is likely what is needed. More expensive but far stronger. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk Quote

EricJ Posted July 7, 2022 Report Posted July 7, 2022 The cowl flap hinges are prettty simple and can just about be completely fabricated from stuff laying around if need be. There is a service bulletin on the early J cowl flaps that has details. SB M20-231. They can get weird wear patterns that will just continue doing things like eating bushings until fully addressed.
