John Mininger Posted January 22, 2022 Report Posted January 22, 2022 My wife and I spend a few weeks in South Florida every winter. Sooner or later, I'm going to be asked to pick friends up who have flown in commercially to Fort Lauderdale International. Anyone have any recommendations of which FBO to fly into at FLL to pick up passengers who have flown in commercially? Thanks Quote
alextstone Posted January 22, 2022 Report Posted January 22, 2022 I would fly into KXE instead and used Banyan. Great FBO, airport more GA friendly. If you do that check out the Banyan pilot shop and JetWay Cafe! Alex Quote

I've flown into FXE and agree with everything you said about Banyan. But is FLL that bad if my passengers are there? Thanks Quote

LANCECASPER Posted January 22, 2022 Report Posted January 22, 2022 A car is my choice for picking up airline passengers. Getting them from the terminal to the FBO isn't always easy. Their luggage isn't usually GA friendly (huge suitcases). After a long flight they usually aren't excited about getting in a small cramped airplane. 1 Quote

carusoam Posted January 23, 2022 Report Posted January 23, 2022 It’s kind of raining tonight… But, to get an idea of the Uber distance recommended by rbp above… WingX shows it like this… -a- Quote
Andy95W Posted January 23, 2022 Report Posted January 23, 2022 For a “semi-major” airport, FLL is very easy to get in and out for a GA airplane. FBOs are fairly reasonable, all things considered. The problem is that there is no convenient way to get passengers from the airline terminal to the FBO area. To do so, either you would need to pick them up in a car or they would have to Uber- and if they’re going to take an Uber anyway, they might as well go to FXE. One possibility that I don’t have an answer to is the availability of a crew car. Your best option, IMO, is to call the FBOs at FLL and simply ask them their recommendation for getting passengers from the airline terminal to the FBO. I guarantee that question comes up often. Quote
John Mininger Posted January 23, 2022 Author Report Posted January 23, 2022 I just checked the UBER rates from the terminal at FLL to Banyan at FXE. At 6am on Sunday morning UBERx was $24.45. Sounds like that would probably be the way to go. 1 Quote
Hank Posted January 23, 2022 Report Posted January 23, 2022 10 or 12 years ago, I took a taxi from FLL to a hotel across the street from FXE. It was about $30. The next morning I walked over to Wet Wingologists and flew my Mooney back to WV. Quote
