Cruiser Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 Can anyone tell me where the flux detector for the HSI is located on an '84 M20J. I believe it is in one of the wings? Which access panel to get to it? thanks, Quote
pjsny78 Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 Cruiser, I just had to get mine realigned because my HSI was off. I know it’s in the wing and I believe it’s the left one. If no one answers your post tonight I can call and find out for you in the morning and let you know. Quote
Piloto Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 It is on the left wing fourth access panel outboard from the gear door. On some Mooneys the cover has screws instead of rivets. José Quote
Cruiser Posted December 7, 2011 Author Report Posted December 7, 2011 Found it! It was behind the THIRD access panel (riveted) outboard of the gear door in the Left wing behind the main spar. The access panel is placarded "Magnetic Azmuth Transmitter" but it was painted over and you could not see the printing until the panel was pulled off Quote

pjsny78 Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 this is a copy off my bill of what was done and the price. im sure you may be able to get it a bit chaeper if you shop around. i live in NY so the prices are ultimattly a little higher. i was told that it was just loose in the wing somehow and had to be realigned and secured. i think that part of the job requires them to do a compass swing and compass card afterwards. swing HSr and compass systems- Performed HSr swing raw aendix/King Kcs55A'installation manual p/n 006-001-11-001-1, rev 11, dated npril 2007.
