salty Posted June 4, 2021 Report Posted June 4, 2021 Lots of threads on this already, but not much useful information on finding a replacement. One of my original paramount master cylinders is acting like the check valve failed. If I push hard and quick it grabs good and holds forever, but if I press slowly it just sinks to the floor and nothing. I replaced all o rings and nothing changed. The “shake-proof washer” is not broken and everything seems fine. Not sure what to do at this point. Not getting any hits on a replacement paramount, cleavland or gerdes. 1 Quote
MB65E Posted June 4, 2021 Report Posted June 4, 2021 I’m about to do mine. There are a few on eBay. If mine does the same I’ll flip you for them. Plane parts has a nice reseal kit. -Matt Quote

I don’t see anything correlating the two. Quote
MB65E Posted June 5, 2021 Report Posted June 5, 2021 V1-15-625-CH is the part number in my airplane. One is a paramount part the other might be Cleveland. -Matt Quote
salty Posted June 6, 2021 Author Report Posted June 6, 2021 A second rebuild of the master cylinder resolved my problem. The “shake-proof” washer was not providing enough pressure to engage the check valve. After bending it so that it provided sufficient pressure the master cylinder is now working perfectly again. 3 Quote
MB65E Posted June 15, 2021 Report Posted June 15, 2021 Do the paramount cylinders have the leather check valve thing as mentioned in other posts? The IPC states it’s as an oring. Mine was assembled incorrectly by Muncie Aviation. They had the aluminum puck flipped, they only used 3 orings and a washer was missing. I ordered two of the last new brass washers that I was missing. Duncan Aviation actually had NOS parts for the paramount actuators. Quote
JoeM Posted June 21, 2021 Report Posted June 21, 2021 Plane parts referred me to Bill Goetschel, an IA who overhauls and tests the original paramount cylinders. He repairs or replaces the poppet valve (the brass one which presses the fluid down to the wheel cylinder and which is NOT included in the O ring overhaul kit). He prefers calls or texts at 507-581-9761. He also sells replacement master cylinders on Ebay. When returned, he provides a log entry showing the overhaul with a place for your A&P to sign that he installed it. Mine worked perfectly. 1 Quote
