Eight8Victor Posted September 26, 2020 Report Posted September 26, 2020 Im going to hell. It took 237 curse words to get the wire into the small hole in the stud. The oil heat exchanger mocks me the whole time while the cable housing punctures my finger tip releasing bright red corrosive fluid. There’s got to be a better way, so share your secrets. Quote
carusoam Posted September 27, 2020 Report Posted September 27, 2020 That could be just one of the reasons the ram air cable got eliminated... Got pics of what you are seeing, not the red stuff... Best regards, -a- Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 27, 2020 Report Posted September 27, 2020 Take the screws out of the oil cooler along with the hose clamps on the heat shield and push the oil cooler aside. You can access it through the oil cooler hole. Quote
Gary0747 Posted September 27, 2020 Report Posted September 27, 2020 Just relocate the oil cooler to baffle behind #4 cylinder. It works better there too. See Laser mod. 1 Quote
Shiny moose Posted September 27, 2020 Report Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) What 201MKTturbo stated. Edited September 27, 2020 by Shiny moose Quote
flyingchump Posted September 27, 2020 Report Posted September 27, 2020 remove the oil cooler. Just 4 screws then that cooler can be pushed aside and you can put your left hand through the oil cooler cowl opening. Its faster then trying to work around the cooler. Quote
Nukemzzz Posted September 27, 2020 Report Posted September 27, 2020 Maybe try different curse words? Quote

Yetti Posted September 30, 2020 Report Posted September 30, 2020 Anything up there. Step 1 Remove oil cooler and hang by safety wire. I start out by not doing that but end up doing that. 1 Quote
Eight8Victor Posted September 30, 2020 Author Report Posted September 30, 2020 Thanks for all the replies. I realized after some checking that there were various different designs For the cable attach point so only those with my style probably feel my pain. Anthony, it was finished and closed up by the time I posted this and I was at the height of my frustration so no pictures and I didn’t want to dig back into it. I did find a pic on Mooneyspace from another poster that I attached here that resembles mine. MKturbo, Moose, Chump, Mitch and Yetti. I did have the oil, cooler unbolted but it only provided minimal room to negotiate with my hand. In the end I was able to get it attached and my mechanic was satisfied with the result. Nuke, send your most useful curse words so I can be prepared for the next lower cowl removal. Gary, now I really like your idea. I will be looking into the oil cooler relocation STC. Seems like it would be Yuge plus. Steve photo credit @apenney 1 Quote

After i landed with it open and taxiied to my mechanic I heard some pretty good words. It had been attached but not tightened enough. Hope yours stays attached! Quote
