dgbecht Posted June 21, 2020 Report Posted June 21, 2020 Not sure if this is the right place for this - if not I apologize. As the title states, I am in the market for a Mooney. Price range is 30-60K. Ideally would be a low/mid time engine with decent IFR setup (Garmin 430/530). Preferably E or F model. I've been all over Controller/Barnstormers/Trade-a-Plane and have found several candidates but wanted to reach out to this community and see if anyone was aware of any FSBO or have seen anything off market. I am also aware that those planes available in low 30's are going to need $ put into them for Panel/interior/engine/lights etc... Quote
carusoam Posted June 22, 2020 Report Posted June 22, 2020 Well... There isn’t a wrong place to telling people what you want to buy... Putting it next to the panes for sale might be interesting... That area puts buyers and sellers together... or sellers and buyers? Plus, planes for sale there may meet your expectations... Going down the list of MSCs is the typical route to find the not for sale yet birds... just before they go to market... Then there are a few people that constantly are acquiring and are upgrading Mooneys for sale, like @Alan Fox... See if he has an inventory list... The people listing their FSBOs... usually put them in the for sale area around here.... Good luck in the hunt! Best regards, -a- Quote

I'd tell every FBO and mechanic in the area that you're looking for one. I couldn't believe I found mine locally but there was one guy looking to sell and he hadn't listed it yet. My local FBO avionics guys told me about it and put me in contact with the owner, they knew it was also in excellent condition as they'd worked on it. The major websites are good, planes will come across frequently. The for sale section on here is good also. The more forums, mechanics, and ppl you let know you're looking you might find good candidates. 1 Quote
MBDiagMan Posted June 23, 2020 Report Posted June 23, 2020 From what I’ve seen MANY Mooney’s get sold locally before being advertised. Word of mouth seems to work better selling Mooney’s than many other saleable items for some reason. I expect that if I decided to sell mine I would have several local prospects pop Up immediately after putting the news into the local grapevine. 1 Quote
