MoonFlyer68 Posted May 22, 2020 Report Posted May 22, 2020 Up for sale is a new Aerospace Logic FL252 Fuel Level Gauge. It is a two tank system that reads from 0-5 Volts input. This is a primary gauge replacement. The story behind this gauge is one of frustration for me. I know that in the future I want to install the Dynon HDX system. The Dynon system uses 0-5 volts as input. While in annual I was installing bladders and new CIES senders. I made sure to purchase the 5 volt version of the senders. When you purchase the voltage senders, all the wiring is still there to use the digital signal if you should ever decide to go digital. I provided the shop the senders and this gauge with specific instructions to set up using the voltage wiring on the senders. The annual took a very long time due to other issues and I was out of the country for much of the time. I even had to have my plane ferried home when the annual was complete because I was gone. The voltage fuel gauge was still in the back of the plane and the shop said I ordered the wrong thing. They ordered and installed the correct one for me. Of course they ordered the digital signal gauge and already had it installed and calibrated. They said that when the voltage gauge was hooked up it would not work. Basically, they tried hooking up a voltage fuel gauge to the digital wiring from the senders. So I called up Aircraft Spruce to see about returning the voltage gauge and was told that because they physically installed it in the airplane it was not returnable. So in the end, my loss can be your gain. Brand new other than installed and removed. All paperwork and wiring included. The company is selling them for $680 new, I will take $500 and that includes shipping in the USA. http://www.aerospacelogic.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=159
podair Posted May 23, 2020 Report Posted May 23, 2020 sorry to hear about the mix up. I might be interested. To install these on a 1967 M20F, I need to replace the senders with voltage (not digital) cies ones, or can I use the old senders (probably a bad idea) or at least the wiring?
MoonFlyer68 Posted May 23, 2020 Author Report Posted May 23, 2020 As I remember the old senders will not work properly with this fuel gauge. You will need to upgrade your senders. If you do get the CIES senders with Voltage, they will also have the digital signal wiring for if you ever decide to use the digital side. Eventually when the Dynon autopilot is approved for Mooney and I have the money saved up, I will be pulling my digital signal gauge and selling it here also. Of course at the rate things are going, that might be a year or 2.
