kris_adams Posted September 5, 2019 Report Posted September 5, 2019 New panel being cut and going with a G3x, 750, remote audio, remote 345, G5, GFC500 (3 servo), guardian ipad mount (right side if we can work it out), panel USB chargers (I know a $20 amazon adapter is cheaper but at this point...) Thinking of the AOA gauge that was at Mooney Summit last year but can't find the info on it--Oh and maybe something else if I can figure out how to get it approved. Accepting donations to pay remainder of the balance especially from those of you that are responsible for this like @Marauder and @Bob_Belville Always open to any gotchas or recommendations from those of you who have done these upgrades! 201Mooniac Posted September 5, 2019 Report Posted September 5, 2019 Congratulations, sounds like a great setup and you'll love it and never even miss the money from your bank account :-) 1 Quote
Stanton R Posted September 5, 2019 Report Posted September 5, 2019 The G3X has AOA with experimental installations. My hope is garmin will figure out a way to get it approved on the certified version. 1 Quote
Bob_Belville Posted September 5, 2019 Report Posted September 5, 2019 I have the CYA100 AoA and like it a lot. Aircraft Spruce sells it, I suppose it is the cheapest and easiest to install. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/aoacya100.php 2 Quote
MBDiagMan Posted September 5, 2019 Report Posted September 5, 2019 We love spending other people’s money! I guess some of us would be right at home in Congress. Seriously though, it sounds like a great project that should serve you well. 1 Quote

kris_adams Posted September 5, 2019 Author Report Posted September 5, 2019 I'm keeping the 430W below the 750. I'd like to have the 750/650 combo but my 430 is functioning perfectly so it's staying. The Kx155 and EI CGR's are going along with the vacuum pump and backup. excited to see the weight changes. Quote
NJMac Posted September 6, 2019 Report Posted September 6, 2019 Congrats. Should be well worth the investment. I have an iPad doc right side that sits horizontally. Honestly don’t like it. I’d encourage you to find a way to mount it vertically or omit the dock all together and just build in a knuckle and ram mount instead. All your approach plates are vertical and it makes no sense to me having the iPad sideways. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 2 Quote
MBDiagMan Posted September 6, 2019 Report Posted September 6, 2019 I like the iPad sideways so I can view maps and synthetic vision side by side when necessary, but that’s simply my personal preference. Quote

I'm hoping I can be comfortable using the g3x to display them. We'll see Quote

That's more what I was thinking on the right side. Also give my copilot something interesting to watch. Quote
DAVIDWH Posted September 6, 2019 Report Posted September 6, 2019 Having done basically the same with exception of I-pad mount, Shop promised next week???? As for the blame game, for me all blame and credit goes to Don Kay's panel fotos. The bad news is , divorce attorneys don't take credit cards....... As for the I pad mount, if you attach Sporty"s yoke mount upside down, you can squeeze the I-Pad Pro nicely in the yoke. ( Initial clamp mounts from under, not on top) Convenient, sets low and no visual interference with avionics. 1 Quote

We're flying out to Sedona in 5 weeks and Im sure my wife will download some netflix onto the ipad on that side. Will definitely watch better horizontally for her. 1 Quote
Davidv Posted September 7, 2019 Report Posted September 7, 2019 Amazing setup. As I told another mser earlier today, look on the bright side, you'll no longer have to worry about where to invest the $XX,XXX you're sending to Garmin. That money is their problem now! 1 Quote

kris_adams Posted September 8, 2019 Author Report Posted September 8, 2019 Btw the order has been placed with Garmin and I’m impatiently waiting the arrival. Sounds like they have a 4-6 week backlog on some of this gear Quote

thomas1142 Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 I’m going with the same setup minus the 750, I have a 530W, aGTX 345, and an EDM 900 already in the panel. What equipment is the backlog on? Mind sharing who’s doing the work, and ballpark $$$. Quote
