Flying from Kelowna, B.C to Alberta across the rockies at 11pm at night, the wreckage was found at 3am, it dug a 10 foot crater into the ground, 2 poor souls passed away.

To be fair, they departed at 8:00 pm local from a location where sunset is at 9:00 pm, and they were flying to a destination further north where sunset is 9:45 pm and civil twilight ends at 10:34.  They were well over the flatlands when they crashed.

RIP.

That aircraft was turbocharged.  But still, an O2 malfunction at 17,000' could be a problem.  Or so could VFR into IMC.  Loooking at the flightaware trace, and the resulting crash, it was pretty sudden, and vertical. Bless their souls.

Just looking at the paper today. No new info has been released.

One of my co-workers here knew them both well.

Both very experienced pilots with lots of hours, instrument ratings etc. On their way to a wedding no less.

Lets wait and see what happended.

My condolences to the family.

We may never know why on this one. With smoking wreckage like that, it has to be pretty tough to piece it back together.

They could have iced up and stalled, vacuum system failure, or gyro failure.   Seeing as how they were instrument rated, spatial disorientation may be unlikely without equipment failure.
