I am not sure why we have clear tubing with tie wraps over our handshake connectors.  I need to replace the clear tubing on the connectors from the oil sender.  I know these connectors must stay clean and dry else you’ll get erratic oil temp readings.  Is there a better way to insulate these connectors rather than clear tubing?  Heat Shrink?

Since they use handshakes, they anticipate they are going to be disconnected fairly frequently. Thus, it would be a waste to use shrink tubing. Personally, I like the clear tubing, secured by tie wraps. But I prefer to use the tie wrap, only on the end above the connector. That way, you can slide it up, to disconnect it, then slide it back down to cover the connector until next time. Gravity helps keep it covered.

But I don't know why they would use them on an oil sender wire.
