1964-M20E Posted February 7, 2018 Report Posted February 7, 2018 MY stay in Idaho Falls got me acquainted with some of these new METAR terms. Freezing Fog is one thing I don't ever remember hearing. 1 Quote
Hank Posted February 7, 2018 Report Posted February 7, 2018 It was a different kind of ugly here this morning: : KMGM 071443Z 26008G18KT 1 1/2SM VCTS RA BR BKN027 BKN070 OVC090 17/16 A3013 RMK AO2 WSHFT 1400 LTG DSNT ALQDS RAE04B15 P0054 T01670161 $ Visibility at work was much, much less--maybe 1/2 sm in Heavy Rain. Mooneymite Posted February 7, 2018 Report Posted February 7, 2018 Okay.... Who remembers the "old style" of weather reporting? Does "WOXOF" mean anything to you? I ran into an airline pilot and used the term, but he looked blankly at me with no recognition..... New day, new way. Quote

donkaye Posted February 7, 2018 Report Posted February 7, 2018 About to go out running. California may have many negatives, but weather is not one of them. I shudder when I remember delivering the Cleveland Plain Dealer in -2°F weather. Today, just another Ho Hum beautiful day in February. San Jose CA (Norman Y Mineta San Jose Intl) [KSJC] hourly observation on the 7th at 11:53am PST (1953Z) wind calm, visibility 10 miles, sky clear below 12,000 feet, temperature 21°C (70°F), dewpoint 1°C (34°F), altimeter 30.24, automated station with precipitation discriminator, sea level pressure 30.24" Hg (1024.0 hPa), temperature 21.1°C (70.0°F), dewpoint 0.6°C (33.1°F). 2 Quote

I searched for Iceland volcanoes first, but it was too long ago. Not near as long ago as the last reported "plague of frogs," many moons before the Wright Brothers were born or even the name "Wright" ever given to anyone . . . Right now, though, I don't remember if the plague of frogs was before or after the plague of locusts, although I'm leaning towards "after." 1 Quote

yvesg Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 I recal a METAR for Ottawa (the Canadian capital) near where I am based and we had a 0SM visibility with 0 wind about 10years ago. I printed it on a sheet for posterity but cannot remember where I put it. If I find it I will post. Yves 1 Quote
