Jim Peace Posted November 18, 2017 Report Posted November 18, 2017 (edited) I think I want to start drawing in the sky. I need a creative outlet. Anyone know of a Mooney friendly system? Edited November 18, 2017 by Jim Peace 1 Quote

201er Posted November 18, 2017 Report Posted November 18, 2017 You can just do it on flight aware and share the radar track. 1 Quote

Yes, but your audience there is only so much, do this over a sporting event, considering TFR's and look at the multiplication factor of social media. 1 Quote

kerry Posted November 18, 2017 Report Posted November 18, 2017 For how cold at that altitude and not have any shrinkage. The Navy should be impressed. 3 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted November 18, 2017 Report Posted November 18, 2017 The figure 8 is symmetrical, the lines and turns are precise, the Navy should be proud. 3 Quote
Tommy Posted November 19, 2017 Report Posted November 19, 2017 Meanwhile in Italy, millions pay hundreds to see this... 1 Quote
Tommy Posted November 19, 2017 Report Posted November 19, 2017 By the way, that's the classic Fallic maneuvre - a Cuban-8 followed by an aptly named "Humpty-Bump" For those who saw something else, get your mind off the gutter, I say! Quote
thinwing Posted November 19, 2017 Report Posted November 19, 2017 I bought my Pitts S1S as a "kit"...the prior owner flamed out when he forgot he was carrying smoke oil in his upper ferry tank....forced landing didn't go well... Quote
1964-M20E Posted November 20, 2017 Report Posted November 20, 2017 I wouldn't mine having it for easier recognition. When ATC calls you out to another plane smoke on. Much easier to see a mile of smoke instead of a 30' long plane. Quote

Pops smoke when in the pattern or calling traffic. He said it was about 20-30lbs? You guys argue about losing that with fuel bladders, no way in hell a Mooney owner would lose that for an oil tank lol Quote

I was chatting with a sky writer friend of mine and he says I should be at least 9500 feet or higher. He does it at 11000. Also not sure if I have the speed. he suggested at least 170 knots. I am good for only 140. Would be fun to do this either every day over NYC or just on some occasions like valentines day......probably can get real creative after 20 or 30 times. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/smokes.php Quote
carusoam Posted November 20, 2017 Report Posted November 20, 2017 Jim, We could be in business... A WAAS GPS, connected to GPSS, and a temporary oil system feeding into an exhaust port... Where does the oil go? An EGT port good enough? Or did you want to fly old-style... all manual? Best regards, -a- Quote
