Mooneymite Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 but usually doesn't. http://www.avgeekery.com/air-india-a320neo-crew-forgets-to-raise-the-gear-lands-safely-short-of-destination/ Anyone else have an after takeoff checklist to cover gear, flaps, boost pump? 1 Quote
201er Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 Who hasn't forgotten to retract the gear or flaps at some point? The key is how long till you catch it. Perhaps the AP was activated immediately and manicures for everyone in the pusspit. Quote

Climbing out and thought "Wow, the humidity *really* does effect the climb rate!" About that time I realized the light on the panel was still green. Oh. Quote
peevee Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 first solo flight in a complex, an arrow back in about 2000. Forgot the gear, wondered why it was so slow, even for an arrow. Put it up and went about my day. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted July 27, 2017 Report Posted July 27, 2017 I forgot to check the emergency gear once, took a while for me to figure that one out, probably the only time I cracked open the POH in flight. Quote
1964-M20E Posted July 27, 2017 Report Posted July 27, 2017 I've done it before too but realized within 10 minutes. Why am I not going faster? duh that's better. Quote
dlthig Posted July 27, 2017 Report Posted July 27, 2017 1000 hours in the A320. There are plenty of indications to let you know that the landing gear is down. There is some concern about inexperienced crews operating overseas. This is just one example. Quote
Fighterpilot1232 Posted July 27, 2017 Report Posted July 27, 2017 But as soon as the aircraft failed to accelerate or climb past FL240, what was the flight crew thinking? This was a brand new NEO aircraft, there should have been a red flag to the flight crew as soon as the aircraft failed to meet it's performance specifications. This was a big duh moment for the crew of this airliner... This also shows poor CRM on behalf of the crew and the airline, the flight crew did not run the checklist or they did not back one another on the checklist whilst performing their respective duties as the captain/FO... (Actual airbus A320 checklist) Quote
Mooneymite Posted July 27, 2017 Author Report Posted July 27, 2017 And on top of everything else, the report cited this: "The pilots, both of whom were women according to the original report, expressed incredulity when they became aware of their error." When I forget the gear, flaps, or boost pump I rarely feel feminine. I just feel dumb. 1 Quote
