Now to find that perfect C or E... Any recommendations?

That 1974 C of 22others looks to be just what your looking for

Logic Tree:

1) The perfect C comes with fuel injection, so I hear...

2) putting the gear up is more effort when going fast.  Raise the nose, to slow to a better speed.  Once the gear is put away, lower the nose to maintain cooling.  No requirement for slow flight at a fixed altitude for this.

3) putting the gear down is less effort when going fast.

4) Electric gear takes most of the concerns for shoulder health away.

5) The E makes a great retired Guy's airplane.

6) A fully manual C is a mechanical engineer's dream plane.  Goes fast, costs less...  (Sounds like a Lite beer ad)

7) An electrical engineer's dream plane is an instrument panel with an attached airframe...:)

8) try before you buy, use a CFI with good Mooney skills.

My PP ideas...

Best regards,

The perfect E does exist.  Bob Belville owns it.

Sorry, mine's not for sale. B)

But there are some interesting planes for sale here, check under "Aircraft For Sale."

Thanks Hank.  I've looked at the listings here, and unfortunately I don't see any that are either in my budget or fit my needs.  I off course will keep looking, and would really like to buy a plane from a Member.  No immediate rush though, I'm sure that someone once said that patience has virtue, or something like that!..

After all of the research, I do keep coming back to my Mooney.  There are many great airplanes out there, but I loved it first, and the attraction is still very much there...  I'm sure given a bit more tine, I'll find what I want.  In the meantime, I'll be on the forum learning ass much as I can from you guys!

Everything I have is for sale....at the right price!

If you have to ask, "how much", you don't have enough money!  :D

and 64 gal fuel tanks, and a GW increase to 2740# :)

Hum, LOP cruise is 8.5 gph for when range is important which is 5 hours plus over 1 hour reserve. That's 2 hours longer than I care to fly in one leg.

Gross weight is just one number. The higher empty weight in the later models eats up much of the GW increases. I've never felt hampered by an E's 2575. Es are lean, mean flying machines.

Bob, you know those 2 ladies in the back would have enjoyed the extra 10" :)

The guy in the back with Jolie and me is Lynn Mace, A&P/IA a 200#er. Looks pretty comfy to me. The flight with 4 on board was a 3.5 hour flight with overnight luggage.

I've been flying M20Es since 1969. I have never, ever, even once, had anyone complain about the leg room in the (free) back seat. Size is overrated.
