Along side my nosewheel adventure from the weekend, my better half's headset was being intermittent in being able to hear audio from the panel/intercom.

Lightspeed wants $100 for repairs + shipping so I figured I'd take a stab at it first.

Photo Disassembly

I couldn't find any photos of the insides, so I hastily snapped a few shots along the way. Quality isn't the best, but should get most through alright.

Whenever I walked into the tech shop my sergeants would ask me to not touch anything.  The theory is that Signals officers should never pick up a screwdriver.

I can only marvel at the skill set needed to do this.  :)

But I sometimes do some repair work anyway - I just don't tell anyone - and not on anything important - and not on the Mooney

I'd rate it a 3/10 in difficulty. It's pretty tightly coupled and there's not much in the way of spare length inside (at least in mine) as you can see, which ultimately caused the failure.

I was a bit disappointed they had a nice latching system on the other side, but chose to glue it requiring me you to snap the plastic carefully to open it up. I imagine this because of the lack of ability to put a screw there or to know if hangar gremlins had been inside.

The hardest part is being careful of the small ribbon cable and making sure if you disconnect it you get it connected well when you put it back. Those connectors are very fragile.
