Heybluez Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Check out the video from today. This is 86 m20j. Does everyone else's vibrate like this? https://goo.gl/photos/wDaBv1Fv7TCAMVJY7 thanks! Quote
Marauder Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Check out the video from today. This is 86 m20j. Does everyone else's vibrate like this? https://goo.gl/photos/wDaBv1Fv7TCAMVJY7 thanks! It looks like you either have a screw missing or the frame for the compass is cracked. Have you looked at it closely yet? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
amillet Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Mine vibrates too much. I stuck a square of foam between it & glare shield Quote
kmyfm20s Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 You need to put a hula skirt on that thing! You must be missing a bolt in the back. 2 Quote

cbarry Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 The compass mount obviously needs attention, but I am wondering if you could have a partially clogged fuel injector or two. I've seen that kind vibration is when my injectors are not evenly distributing. Quote
Shadrach Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Yowsa, something needs attention. Mine does not move at all. Quote
gsxrpilot Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Mine used to look like that. It was the mount and I had it replaced last week while it was in for some avionics work. It's nice and steady now. Quote
Heybluez Posted December 17, 2015 Author Report Posted December 17, 2015 You guys were right. The mount is cracked. See picture. Guess I may need to just upgrade to a vertical compass, right? 1 Quote
Jsavage3 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 If you're still not happy with it, you might want to have your prop balanced. I did with great results! Quote
carusoam Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 From my C experiments... too tight it vibrates with a high frequency. Too loose, it falls off. Search for just right... a proper vibration absorbing foam or rubber would help. But may be masking something... Knowing what a broken engine mount does to an M20C is priceless. putting two and two together... Odd/large compass vibration + slightly mismatched prop/cowling alignment = broken engine mount It took too many flights to figure this out. The last flight I took was to an MSC... thanks for sharing the insight. Best regards, -a- Quote
carusoam Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 By the way... Air path has a nice website where you can order the small dollar parts that you need to fix that. or this.... http://www.pilotshop.com/catalog/inpages/chousing1.php?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=10-04697&gclid=CMf9y7yL5MkCFYIcHwod1ZUJWA Best regards, -a- Quote
