The compass mount obviously needs attention, but I am wondering if you could have a partially clogged fuel injector or two.  I've seen that kind vibration is when my injectors are not evenly distributing.

Mine used to look like that. It was the mount and I had it replaced last week while it was in for some avionics work. It's nice and steady now.

You guys were right. The mount is cracked. See picture. Guess I may need to just upgrade to a vertical compass, right? :)

If you're still not happy with it, you might want to have your prop balanced. I did with great results!

From my C experiments...

too tight it vibrates with a high frequency.  Too loose, it falls off. Search for just right...

a proper vibration absorbing foam or rubber would help.  But may be masking something...

Knowing what a broken engine mount does to an M20C is priceless.

putting two and two together...

Odd/large compass vibration + slightly mismatched prop/cowling alignment = broken engine mount

It took too many flights to figure this out.  The last flight I took was to an MSC...
