Peter,  do you generally ask permission to depart from pilots who are parked with theireengine not started? I don't.

What I do, just because I am a timid old lady, with a fondness for my own continued existence, is, when I see somebody head for the opposite runway from the one I'm all ready to use, is fire up the radio and say, "BigGuy headed for rwy 6 at Podunk, this is Mooney 58H, holding short of rwy 24. Do you mind if I go first for a straight out departure to the southwest?" or, if I am feeling really big-hearted, I might suggest, "BigGuy departing Podunk, I'll hold short of 24 for you if you're ready to go." That leaves him the opportunity, as has often happened to me, to say, "No, thanks a lot, but we're still waiting for Clearance Delivery to get back to us. You go ahead.Have a good 'un." And if he had no intention of letting me go first, when I was clearly there first and ready to depart when he rolled right onto the runway, at least the sweetness might let him know he was just a little bit out of line. And it doesn't eat holes in my belly with frustration.

That's great, Amelia, and is a nice thing to do.

what happened to Erik was the Big Guy cranked up and taxied out AFTER Erik; they went to the opposite direction runway; Big Guy's first radio call was departure, rolling towards Erik who was just about to taxi onto the runway. Rude, Crude and Socially Unacceptable behavior.

i try to be polite, but that does not make me a doormat.

Just about to taxi onto the runway is not the same as on the runway.

Still...desperatly grasping at straws!

Still...desperatly grasping at straws!

Still holding court, persistent and righteous all comers.

Run over any children on the way home from work this evening?  It's justified if the parents weren't tending closely enough to them I hear. Run over any motorcycles who sinned across the yellow line with a bug in your bun?

I'll ad what a weird thing is a forum that has generated such interest from a thread of story telling where I added one that was meant just to say, it would have been nice if we were talking to each other along the way, and not just at the end. I can't figure what it was with my story that has persisted from the others.  Despite the aggressive dentist who insists I am wrong, I still think it is nice to talk to each other along the way.  Nor is it the end of the world otherwise, but yes, nice, in my opinion.

You are wrong because in your efforts to support your losing argument you're grasping for anything blindly in the dark.

You said "...they did announce before taking the runway..."

What more do you want them to do?

Then you say "...it's nice to talk to each other..." They did.

Then you say they only announced departing 6 and you accuse them of not using their radio.

You are wrong because you proceed to call them "stupid" "little kiddies." That's wrong and very immature of you.

You're wrong because you make up stories and get tangled up in your own web.

You are wrong because you're all over the place.

Who cares, one person opinion of kindness is another's idea of being rude, let it go!

Agreed. He should get his story straight or let it go. He has done neither!

Can't have his cake and eat it too!

Who cares? I'm sure those Pilatus pilots would care if they knew they're being demeaned and called "stupid...little kiddies!" having done nothing wrong!

If he is above all of that he can post an apology just as easy or easier than his stories he made up.

Are you above that Mr. virtuous professor?

When are you going to learn that Peter is ALWAYS right on EVERYTHING and we are WRONG on EVERYTHING?

I've given up feeding our local troll.
