Hello:

I'm looking to install a JPI 900 to replace all gauges in my 84 J model. I've been studying the Mooney IPC and the JPI install manual. My current source of confusion regards the fuel and oil pressure hose sizes. The JPI manual shows the transducers as 7/16" thread and -4 size fitting. Reading the Mooney IPC isn't clear on the hose sizes, but cross-referencing the pn's indicates they are -3 size. Does anybody know what the factory hose sizes and fittings are?

The JPI manual specifies attaching the transducers to the firewall. The factory has the transducers clamped to the engine mount. I prefer the firewall, since I suspect there will be less vibration and possibly longer transducer life.

Also, does anybody have a good source on the hoses and fittings I will need?

the fuel hose is a -3, both straight ends, and 29.0" long.

Th oil is the same but 17.0" long.

here is my quandry. Why have 40" extra  of fluid hose under the cowl when u can extend the wiring and mount that fuel pressure sender close to the fuel injector servo?

Also, use the 124J hoses. Same price but the fire sleeve is made onto the hose.  Smaller OD, tighter bend raduis, and easier inspection. If its good enough for SpaceX rocket engines its god enough for me

All my hoses came from PHT and they all fit exactly.

HI Byron:

Thanks for the info. Does that mean the fittings on the engine side of these hoses is 3/8 x 24? Is it possible to get a hose with 3/8 x 24 on one end and 7/16 x 20 on the other?

Find the thread for additional JPI 900 installation/sensor challenges. It might be helpful...

Anyone know where Bob Belvil's JPI install thread is?

Best regards,

Those are standard AN thread sizes for -3 and -4 hose. I'm pretty sure they an make them with whatever size fitting you need. Some of those senders are NPT and you should be able to make a hose with a female NPT on one end. There are also straight, 45 and 90 degree hose ends too.
