RobertGary1 Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 The holes in my plastic door panel are worn to the point that the arm rest isn't staying on. Short of otherwise needlessly replacing the panel is there a clever way to attach the arm rest? 1 Quote
Marauder Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Being the Cheap Bast&$d I am, I used hot glue on the tabs and on the bottom of the arm rest. Quote
Piloto Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Try long mating Velcro strips. This is what is used on the later Mooney seats to keep the cushions in place. This way you can take the cushion out for cleaning or replacing it. José Quote

drapo Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Had the same problem, tried the Velcro, but it wouldn't stay on during the hot summer days. Finally, I opened the side panel and used a big washer to allow the screw to hold to something strong. Sorry, no pictures! Quote

On some surfaces such as cloth it need to be stitched like is done clothing. Using silicon or other glue also helps on sticking to the surface. José Quote
TTaylor Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Use some fiberglass and epoxy resin to repair the area. Include a thicker section behind the attach points. See my album where I modified the window trim during the window conversion on our F. Quote

The extra material of the velcro strips in between the trim and the panel creates a noticable gap. It does not look good. Maybe it won't be as noticable under an armrest. Adhesive, or maybe carpet tape, would probably give a cleaner look. Quote
M20F Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 I used glue and clamped it over night, still good after two years. One day a new interior :-) 1 Quote
