DonMuncy Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 My 231 is undergoing its annual. The IA found a leak in what he tells me is a fuel transducer. The only transducer I am familiar with or that I can find information on, is the one which tells my fuel totalized about fuel flow. It is not that one. The one he showed me is on top of the engine, about the center (front to back) and slightly right of center) left to right). It is rectangular, about 2 inches square and over an inch thick. It has multilple lines running to or from it. Anyone have any idea about what it is; what it does; what it costs; or about repair/replace options. Don Quote
Ron McBride Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 It is called a fuel spider. The real small lines go to each injector. On my F the overhaul of this is $275.00 at Wesstern Skyways. I wish they would hurry up and it back to me with the fuel servo. They are located in Montrose CO. Call them.\ to check on prices. Ron Quote
Jeff_S Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I've never heard the spider called a "transducer" before. That seems to be a pretty poor use of terminology, as the spider is what transfers fuel to the injectors. By definition, a "transducer" will transfer rate of flow information from one format to another. The most common one is the one you stated in the original post: the rate of physical fuel flow is transformed into an electrical signal which feeds the fuel-flow indicator. Similarly, there is a transducer that converts the actual oil pressure into an electrical signal which drives the oil pressure gauge. Quote
