GDP of Yemem is that of one quarter of Apple profits. Yes, very important strategic partner for us. For target practice, maybe.

Blondes are not my type. I'd figure you'd figure it out by now. I see FOX is now doing everything possible to make GOPers forget about ACA now that they got elected on that platform. How long before you'll be on board with it needing just some minor tweaking. I say 12 months...

The are going to gut it like the pig it is..........absolutely decimate it......all while everyone is snoozing off.

Wanna bet? Next two years, the GOP congress will accomplish nothing, will actually pass very little and whatever is passes, will be vetoed. As simple as that. The bluff has been played and the SOTU speech was just a trap for GOP to walk into making them look like they do and will do nothing for the middle class.

Hey, things are looking up. The Senate approved a bill proclaiming that climate change is real and happening. But you all know the one that went down in flames.

That's exactly right, just to spite his dumb ass. Six years of dirty politics and vitriol and now the O-man wants to extend an olive branch to mop up what's left of his legacy? For two years, nothing moves. O will hit the road on college tours and no matter how much his numbers rise.....he ain't getting anything he wants. He was laughable the other night, lecturing everybody around him on political civility and then shot his mouth off .

So, he'll be only two things......the implementer of Obamacare and our first black President. And when the Republicans are done disemboweling that poop filled, cancer ridden, rectum called Obamacare, they'll throw him a bone and allow what's left if it, to still be called Obamacare....Just so this Tool can forever be relegated to the likes of LBJ. A racist, charity case, liberal.

History has a funny way of seeing things. In 20 years he could be viewed very favorably. "Obama, oh yea, wasn't he the one that made the Iranian's sit down and negotiate away their nuclear program when his opponents wanted to bomb the crap out of them? I remember him, good fellow that Obama, he finally got us out of some nasty neighborhoods but not before having to put up a fight.  I remember those days as if they were yesterday, when people actually went broke if they happened to get sick. There were a lot of people that hated that program but congress eventually tweaked it under president Trump and it actually started to work as intended. It's not cheap, but it works. Amazingly, his approval ratings were in the low 20's at one time and when he left office they were in the 60's. What I liked most about him was his sense of humor, the presenting of his original birth certificate during his last press conference was hilarious. If you could see the expression on the late Sean Hannity's face you would have died laughing. He was also a pretty smart guy, once he left office he asked Harvard to lift restrictions on requests to see his transcripts and he actually maintained a 4.0 GPA while there. Not so good at Columbia I'm afraid, there he only managed a 3.5"

These are your people, John. Big brains will be holding sings like that 12 years from now, except with ACA on it.

Keep you hands of my Medicare?

Eloquent. Also, delusional. You had me at "favorable".

I may not be very far off. In October of 1963 Kennedy did not have a stellar approval rating. Truman is probably the poster boy for presidents who were not very popular in their time, but time transformed the view of him very favorably. Same goes for Nixon, yes he had terrible personality flaws and Watergate is what he'll be remembered by, but ask any foreign policy wonk what they thought of his diplomacy and they give him high marks. Not so much in 1974.

Let's revisit this in 2035 to see just how delusional I was.

Kennedy had two terms, right? Oh....wait....... Well, that's OK...we got a man on the Moon and the Great Society anyway.

And here's what you don't see coming. O-man will spend about four years getting his handicap tidied up.....down to a -2, then he'll start campaigning, shooting his mouth off, undermining future sitting Presidents and grossly over estimating his own relevance, further delaying the favorability of his legacy. He's young....60 years.

Here's who Obama had interview him following the SOTU. Of note, the lovely and talented Glovell Green has made herself famous with the "Condom Challenge". This exercise in intellectual brilliance, involves shoving a condom up her nostril and pulling it out the other nostril. She recently gained dubious cultural notoriety bathing in a tub of milk and Fruit Loops. Befitting.

Now, to be fair, I will give you the PBS link to this joke of a press junket. Yemen is blowing up, 3 administration officials sent to Ferguson, none to France and this is your guy's idea of being taken seriously? Building a legacy? Now, we know these "Youtubers" are going to pitch softball questions, that's fine. But what about somebody vetting them first....maybe make a political calculation or two? It's really beneath the office and perhaps the worst timing one could imagine.

What's two terms have to do anything? I'd be willing to bet you were gloating when Obama's approval rating was in the basement during his first term.

Not really defending this to you "yore" eliteness and champion of higher thought. But it is a very simple point.

The government FORCES us to pay into Social Security and Medicare. Then Obama robs Medicare to prop up out-of-control Obamacare costs, and also cuts Medicare benefits and coverages, after the election of course.

Deny it all you wish ...

The standard Democrat rhetoric each and every time Republicans try to cut one penny from the out-of-control government spending is: the Republicans are going to take away your Social Security and Mdcicare ... and they target the elderly with their blatantly false message.

Why is it that the story is that budget cuts always place social security and medicare at risk, but never food stamps and the numerous welfare programs?

Is it reasonable to expect your government to produce a sound financial status, not going trillions in debt?

Since we are FORCED to surrender thousands of dollars of our wages throughout our entire working lives, shouldn't we demand the government either honor their promises, (rather than quietly reduce benefits promises) or refund our money and release us from further obligation to participate and contribute to their flawed programs.

I don't know about you, but I have serious doubts whether I will receive what I have contributed and was promised. It seems likely and rational to conclude the government will arbitrarily reduce our benefits at some point, and those of us who were FORCED to contribute our entire working lives will be left "holding the bag" so to speak.

So I am sure that "moderates" like you and Andy and rob and our Canadaian socialist all like to think that you are supremely intelligent, and that these folks are idiots ... But they understand when they have been forced to pay into a program and a dishonest and corrupt administration cuts their benefits in order to pay for his health care program which subsidizes free-loaders.

IMHO - they are smarter than all of you "moderates" who are blinded by progressivism and your supposedly "high-minded" and "good intentions" produced by your "superior" understanding and intelligence.

THE GOVERNMENT GETS THEIR MONEY!!! WE WHO EARN IT NEVER SEE IT! The "good" government takes it from us, even before we get paid!!! They're just trying to help us out - I know!

Now don't get your panties in a bunch Dave, I had this identical conversation with Scott a few months ago when he said that he felt SS won't be around 15 years from now. I have full faith that it, and Medicare, will both be in place. And since all new legislation which seeks to change the programs affects those under 55, I'll be grandfathered in to current benefits. I have already seen my benefits change when Reagan increased the full benefit age for my age group.

I did find one of your remarks outright wrong (but to the advantage of your point). Over your working lifetime you will contribute well over a hundred thousand dollars. While I agree that it may have been better invested, who is to say that you would have invested it to begin with? I'm thinking that most American's would not put one red cent towards their retirement if SS was dissolved. Proof of this are the millions of workers that are offered 401k WITH an employer match. It's a pretty sad testament when an American worker doesn't take free money. I'm guilty f this as I didn't open a retirement account until I was well into my 30's, and I was making a pretty good living from my mid 20's.

I do agree that the Dems are always out there on the campaign trail telling their constituents that the GOP wants to rob them of their Medicare and SS, but that's just part of the game and is no different than the GOP scaring the population with whatever the event du jour is, whether it's ISIS coming to kill them in bed or dying from Ebola.

Lastly, I have not seen any evidence of a reduction in Medicare benefits as of yet, so I'm not sure how valid your statement about the siphoning of money from Medicare to ACA is. As a matter of fact, those on Medicare Advantage have seen increased benefits. That could change however.

If most, and I would say about 80% of Americans actually experienced the European Socialistic System, there would be brains splattered on the streets of every gated community in this country. Ignorance is a bliss...

Let's see:

-work 35 hours a week

-enjoy 6 weeks of vacation and extra paycheck to enjoy said vacation with

-free childcare

-free health insurance

-lower taxes than here in the US of A

Basically, anyone who makes less than about $120K a year in US of A gets screwed majorly.

SS? I hit the max every April.....and deeply resent every penny of it. It damn-well better be there, because it's a killer if you have a business and make money.

You really miss that $15K? I mean, if you hit it the max in April then your income exceeds $300K a year. Small price to pay should you hit some hard times in your old age.

I think the government should offer citizens who wish to opt out of these programs a full refund, and guarantee no more forced participation. Same with government schools ... Those who go to private schools should not be forced to pay for government schools.

But these are ideas of freedom of liberty and not socialism ... so you "moderates" wouldn't like them.

Abolish the IRS and have a flat tax or consumption tax ...

Oh that just wouldn't do for the "Hope and Change" transformation of the US to a European Socialist State!

I don't think the feds could possibly afford to give a refund to everyone that would request it. I'm thinking the tab could be in the hundreds of billions or even exceed a trillion. I could only imagine what a 55 year old who cashes out on his contributions would do with an extra $60k in his 1% savings account. Rolling it over to an IRA will definitely not be on his mind, but individual responsibility is page one, line one of the GOP playbook so that would be his prerogative. Just as long as he doesn't come begging later on because he's a penniless 65 year old who can't find work because he's too old.

A flat tax sounds nice, but it adversely affects those on the lower rung of the economic ladder. A person earning $50k and paying a flat 20% will be a lot worse off than a person earning $150k and paying 20%. While I hear you and your desire to abolish the IRS, it would still be needed to make sure that the flat tax is collected properly and that everyone is kept honest. I actually think a national sales tax (not VAT however) is better because it forces each and every citizen to pay. Even with a flat tax, there will be millions that are off the books and won't contribute a dime.

Not sure what you are saying about government schools. Do you mean not paying local property tax if you send your kid to a private school?

You wouldn't know anything about Medicare programs being (reduced) no longer offered, but the date to reveal that being delayed until after the election?

While at the same time, the VP is looking directly into the camera and saying "Senior citizens, trust me on this, this guy (Paul Ryan) is going to take your Medicare,"

... then billions of dollars taken from Medicare to fund Obamacare?

You wouldn't know anything about that now would you?

Clue-less

What Paul Ryan offered up was a voucher system, which in and of itself sounds kind of cool. But if you read the details at the time you would have found out that the proposal would call for the feds to give you a voucher worth $1500 a month for you to apply towards your $3,500 a month health coverage. Now how many American's would be able to afford the $2,000 shortfall each and every month for 20+ years that they may live beyond 65? And that's per person mind you.

Like I said, the dems just love to throw this stuff out at their constituents. We should be used to it by now. I know I am.

Sooner or later, the other shoe is going to drop. God help us all when it does. Venezuela, Greece ... here we come!

Once again, you missed the big picture, but then I am not surprised. Greece borrows in currency it was not able to print at will. USA can pay off its entire debt with a stroke of a pen. Why is it so hard to understand? We "borrow" in our own currency that we control.

I hit the max too, but a few months later. And since I'm self-employed, I pay the employer portion too, which does hurt. But what hurts more is the maximum contribution moves up much faster than the rate of inflation. I remember it maxing out in 2006 at $95k and this year it's up to $118k. That's absolutely staggering.

Was it $118 last year? I don't really pay attention. I just pay what the CPA tells me to pay.
