mooneygirl Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 Last year I participated in Teacher Day and it was a blast. This year I am happy to be one of the presenters at Build-a-Plane Teacher Day at OSH 14. I will be giving a presentation on the differences between the male and female brain and how educators can take these differences into account in the classroom. If you are a teacher attending AirVenture please register and attend this worthwhile free event. If by chance you know of an educator that is attending OSH, please spread the word. The other presenters are quite illustrious! http://generalaviationnews.com/2014/06/17/airventure-tempts-teachers-with-freebies/ Quote
yvesg Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 Jolie, did you read the book "Man are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by any chance? I did and this explains a lot of things. Yves Quote
carusoam Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 Yves, An employer of mine (in Dallas) gave me a copy when it was first published. It does a decent job of describing how different and how similar all individuals are.... I'm looking forward to Jolie's response. Best regards, -a- Quote
mooneygirl Posted June 18, 2014 Author Report Posted June 18, 2014 I did read that book way back in the day. I am not sure if many of you know I am a licensed psychotherapist. So I used to have my clients read that book! The talk is about some of the structural differences in the brain which can lead to different ways of interpreting information, risk, connection and loss. I think it will be fun. We all can do a little something to help promote GA whether it be in a classroom or on an airfield. Quote
yvesg Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 I'll try to attend... but don't forget I need to negotiate with a Venusian who happens to be my co-pilot. I knew about your work and also the meaning of your first name... Cannot wait to hug you in Oshkosh lolll Yves Quote
fantom Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 We all can do a little something to help promote GA whether it be in a classroom or on an airfield. Yes, but few, if any, do as much as you, Jolie! Now, to simplify this Mars and Venus stuff: Why Men Can't Win If you work too hard, there is never any time for her. If you don't work enough, you're a good-for-nothing bum. If she has a boring repetitive job with low pay, it's exploitation. If you have a boring repetitive job with low pay, you should get off your ass and find something better. If you get a promotion ahead of her, it's favoritism. If she gets a job ahead of you, it's equal opportunity. If you mention how nice she looks, it's sexual harassment. If you keep quiet, it's male indifference. If you cry, you're a wimp. If you don't, you're insensitive. If you make a decision without consulting her, you're a chauvinist pig, you bastard. If she makes a decision without consulting you, she's a liberated woman. If you ask her to do something she doesn't enjoy, that's domination. If she asks you, it's a favor. If you try to keep yourself in shape, you're vain. If you don't, you're a slob. If you buy her flowers, you're after something. If you don't, you're not thoughtful. If you're proud of your achievements, you're an egotist. If you're not, you're not ambitious. If she has a headache, she's tired. If you have a headache, you don't love her anymore, and you must be sleeping around. The world has become so increasingly complicated..... Quote
