AlanA Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Here is a question for those of you who use Corrosion X prophylactically : What parts of the plane are you spraying? How often? How are spraying the hard to reach areas like inside the tail section? I don't see any corrosion on my J, but it seems like a simple, inexpensive, prevention strategy. If I live in a dry state, and the plane is hangered would you still recommend it? Quote
jetdriven Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 You use a wand with a dip tube and 125 PSI air pressure to create a fog of corrosion-x. then spray it into every inspection panel in the wing and in the center section under the rear seat. It looks like smoke coming out of the wing. The tail would be a good idea but I dont know how you would get a wand into there. Corrosion-X's website has some needle-like attachments perhaps you can get inside with those. Quote
wiguy Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 I had a wingtip off my PA-28 doing a light change. I did the complete inside of the outer wing with Corrosion-X. I just felt since I had it apart I would give it some protection. I used the last of the aresol can on the inside, rear of the tail. I concintrated on the seams and along joints. For the cost & all it can't(shouldn't) hurt. I am in a hangar with a mid time airframe. Quote
bd32322 Posted May 4, 2014 Report Posted May 4, 2014 Regarding interval, my mechanic said once every two years, but I live about 60 miles from the coast. So maybe less often in dry places? Quote
