jimluper Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Electric Landing Gear Switch on Instrument Panel It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Florida as my wife and I were returning home from lunch on Lake Weir. Cursing along at 2500 feet for the short flight to Tampa, I pointed out another airplane 1000 feet above me. My wife leaned forward and put her hand or arm on the glare shield just below my compass. That is when IT happened, PUCKER FACTOR!!!!!!! Well, as it turned out the glare shield pushed down on the Landing Gear switch and it moved to the DOWN position. Now I am wondering if I just need a new switch that has better switch position tit's. The one's that make you pull out to move the switch or I check to see if I can install a metal shield above the switch or a brace on the glare shield???????????? Any thoughts on this from anyone. I don't want to make a habit of my gear dropping in cruise flight...... If this has happened to you, where did you get the parts to fix it. Thanks, Jim Quote

ReggieM Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I replaced my gear switch with a new one from Lasar. Works great and won't go down without pulling it past the detent. http://www.lasar.com/ - Reg Quote
Oscar Avalle Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I did the same and changed the position in my new panel...Now, I am concerned that I may move it with my knee when i get into the plane... You can't win... Quote

You know I changing that out before my next flight..........Thanks There is a detent and spring mechanism on the gear lever. Did your's break? Too bad I didn't see your post before you ordered a replacement. I have an extra one, not new, but would have let you have it cheap... Quote
