skyking1 Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Having problems with eagle and electric gear. Already replaced motor now suspect switch. Gear comes up ok and delays by a minute when you put the switch down. Long minute. Any ideas? Thanks
N201MKTurbo Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Almost certainly a bad limit switch or relay. Have you tried it on jacks? Should be easy to trouble shoot. If you select gear down and hear the relays click with no motor it is one of the relays. If the relays don't click it is the limit switch. It could be in the gear selector switch. If they won't go down shake the switch an see if that gets them going. It could also be in the wiring, but unlikely. If you can reproduce the problem on jacks, it should be easy to find if you know what you are doing. The fact that it has no problem going up eliminates the actuator. 1
triple8s Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 If it were me I wouldnt retract the gear again until I got it up on jacks and at the very least operate the emergency retract.
gwcolwell Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 There's a switch in an F model in the RH gear. I always called it the "squat" switch. Purpose of the switch is to disable the landing gear operation when it "sees" the landing gear is supporting the plane on the ground.
N201MKTurbo Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 The squat switch keeps it from going up not down. 1
John Pleisse Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Check the airspeed indicator pressure sensor that feeds speed info to your gear switch. Have you had a pitot static check recently? Sometimes over pressure during PS cert can clog it or break it. However, your symptoms are the opposite this squawk would create. You would have difficulty getting the gear up, only. But if you are going for the gear switch next or if it is jacked and you are swinging the gear, have it checked.
Dave Marten Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 N201MKTurbo offers some sound advice - get it up on jacks and properly troubleshoot. Don't push a landing gear issue! 1
skyking1 Posted October 9, 2013 Author Report Posted October 9, 2013 After new gear motor we put it on jacks and found limit switch not depressed enough. Thanks for all the help
