  1. So, on an IFR training flight last week my instructor noted a large (~30-deg.) discrepancy between the two VOR receivers in my aircraft. The next flight we went to KMEI where there is a VOR test point on the field, and saw that the NAV receiver in the GNS430W is about 30-degrees off. The other NAV rcvr in the KX-155 is within two degrees (yeah!). Yesterday I called a nearby avionics shop and discussed with a technician I know, who told me that the GNS430W probably required calibration of the CDI it is attached to, and told me something to try. I went to the hangar, followed his instructions, which took about 5 minutes, and then went for a test flight. Both NAV receivers now agree within 1 degree of each other! Solution: press and hold "Enter" while powering up the GNS 430W. That boots it into calibration mode. About 8 or 10 pages into the calibration mode is an option to "Calibrate 150 degrees CDI". Set the CDI to 150 degrees "TO", highlight the box that says "Calibrate 150 degrees CDI" and press enter. That's it. Not sure why it was off, but it is fine now. It should all be that easy!
  2. This right wing (green) Hoskins P/N 202144-2 nav/stobe unit including bulbs and Aeroflash 152-0007 power supply (top picture) was installed on my plane 3 years ago and working perfectly when removed to install LEDs a couple weeks ago. $160 + ship. If you want, I will throw in the much older left nav/strobe unit (red) and tail light for free (bottom pic). The strobe on the left was weak and working only intermittently - I don't know which component was defective but suspect it's the power supply. Use that one for spare parts if you like, including swapping the red lens to the other unit if needed, or just use the two extra working nav bulbs.
  3. My fellow Mooniacs, I am cleaning out the hangar and have a few things for sale. All of the parts listed are brand new sealed in original packaging, except for the Whelen NAV/Strobe light system. My loss is your gain. PM me if you have any questions. 4. I have Whelen A650 strobe/nav lights which appear to be replaced directly with Whelen 71110, anyone done this and is it just as simple as unscrewing the old one off and screwing the new one on? Appears to be from reading. What I can't figure out is what I have for a position light in the tail (67 M20F). It looks like Whelen 71554 replaces it but not positive and unsure what the difference is between horizontal and vertical mounting. It has Cessna for the vertical so assuming I need a horizontal? Appreciate input!
  5. Avidyne has received STC approval for the MK10 Bluetooth® keyboard. The MK10 Bluetooth Keyboard allows pilots to wirelessly control their panel-mounted IFD440 or IFD540 system. Activation of Bluetooth functionality requires IFD440/IFD540 software Release 10.1.1. Initially, the MK10 will allow remote entry of waypoints and flightplans, plus map range changing, and alpha-numeric data entry. An upcoming release (R10.2) will fully enable all MK10 functions including page and tab selection, Direct TO, and others.” The MK10 will have a retail value of $299. For a limitied time, all customers who register or who have registered on www.MyAvidyne.com will receive the MK10 at no cost. If you own an IFD540 or IFD440 and have not registered at MyAvidyne.com, please do so now so you don't get left out when we begin sending MK10 keyboards.
  6. Avidyne is happy to announce the approval of Release 10.1.1 software for the IFD540 & IFD440. Release 10.1.1 adds a number of performance improvements and product enhancements to the IFD540 and IFD440, including activation of the integrated Bluetooth® and WiFi capabilities. Release 10.1.1 (R10.1.1) software is a field-loadable upgrade for the IFD540 and IFD440 that enables Bluetooth and WiFi functionality and also includes a number of product improvements and enhancements. Avidyne’s MK10 Bluetooth wireless keyboard is the first device to take advantage of this wireless capability. Avidyne previously announced a Software Developer Kit (SDK) that allows 3rd-party software developers to create applications for smartphones and portable tablet devices using the wireless data streams coming out of the IFD540 and IFD440. With throughput rates of up to 3 Mbps, Bluetooth provides terrific point-to-point connectivity for specific devices and App-based tasks, while WiFi provides a higher-bandwidth connection of up to 65 Mbps for more robust purposes including laptops and browser-based connectivity.
  7. Very clean KI-203 with connector. $400
  8. I have a '79 M20K with Hoskins Nav and Strobe lights. The power supply and the light/base (PN 7839) are both bad on one wing. It appears that I have three options: Replace the bad power supply ($300) and HOPE that I can find a Hoskins PN 7839 light/base. (see attached picture) So far no luck on the light/base. Convert the bad power supply ($300) and light/base ($250) to Whelan which requires a 337 Convert everything including NAV lights to LED of which there are two options, both TSO'd and do not require the 337 Aeroled, Pulsar model (1080-b/c) for $1190 which includes the tail position light http://www.aeroleds.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=VgPG5vCTuB4%3d&tabid=6270&mid=13206 AVEO, Ultragalactical model for $1,200 http://www.aveogroup.com/aveo-shop/galactica-c-series/68-ultra-embedded-wing-set-of-2-green-and-red-with-white.html Any recent experience with any of these options?
